About this property

This detached property is situated in an elevated position on the edge of the delightful Peak District village of Tideswell. Featuring a mix of traditional and contemporary features, this cottage boasts stripped wooden floors and is perfect for a family holiday in a delightful Derbyshire village. As you enter through the front door, you will discover a rustic dining room on your left featuring a warming woodburning stove. From here, you walk through to a well-equipped modern kitchen with a door to the southwest facing terrace, plus there is a beautifully appointed shower room. On the other side of the front door is a very comfortable sitting room with a stone fireplace and another woodburning stove, ideal to keep you warm whatever the weather is doing outside. Head up the narrow stairs to find three lovely bedrooms, one with a beamed ceiling, and also the family bathroom. Outside the cottage is a small decked area for a morning coffee, whilst just a short stroll will bring you to the centre of Tideswell with a selection of shops and cafes. Set in the centre of the Peak District National Park, Tideswell is a superb base for discovering fabulous walking and mountain bike trails. Short drives will bring you to the popular towns of Buxton and Bakewell, or you may wish to spend a day at Chatsworth House or Haddon Hall. An ideal cottage for a family holiday at any time of the year.

The village of Tideswell stands in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Famous for its fine church dedicated to St John the Baptist, known as "The Cathedral of the Peak", the village is also noted for its well dressing and carnival wakes. There is excellent walking with rugged peaks to the north, gentle hills and dales to the south and Millers Dale just outside the village. Mam Tor and Castleton are only a few miles away and the popular Spa town of Buxton is within a 15 minute drive.

As the description says, access to the master bedroom needs care but there are state-of-the-art nightlights provided and an 83-year-old in our party had no problems with the stairs and the other double bedroom (she also found the large shower downstairs very easy to use). The owners provided plenty of useful local information by email beforehand and, when we contacted them over a minor query (no fault on their part), we found them very friendly and helpful and the issue was resolved immediately.

Had everything we needed and more. All 5 of us slept very well in the very comfortable beds. Lovely village with plenty of pubs. Had an amazing Sunday lunch at The George. Beautiful walk along Tideswell Dale which was easily accessible with parking at the entrance. Would definitely recommend and will hopefully stay again.

The cottage was spotlessly clean with all the facilities we could ask for including boot room , downstairs bathroom and the most comfortable beds. The kitchen was modern and well equipped. We could do amazing walks around the Peaks from our doorstep. Tideswell was the ideal centre for our holiday with lovely pubs , a shop , cafe and bakery. We would love to return .
