Guests say

Rock Lobster is a beautiful property in Port Isaac, boasting stunning sea views and a convenient location for coastal walks and local amenities. Guests appreciate the high standard of furnishings and the homely touches, though some noted areas for improvement in cleanliness and maintenance.

Cleanliness has received mixed feedback. Some guests reported issues such as dirty carpets, a dishwasher with dirty crockery, and mould in showers, suggesting room for improvement. However, others had a satisfactory experience.

The location is highly praised for its amazing views, convenience for walking into town, and proximity to coastal paths. It is considered one of the property's strongest assets.

Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the property and its furnishings comfortable. However, there were comments about a soft bed and the need for better mattress protectors, slightly affecting the score.

Facilities are appreciated, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as broken window locks, worn cooker symbols, and a blocked shower drain. These indicate a need for attention to detail in upkeep.

There is no specific mention of gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the owners, so it is not possible to score this category. Guests did mention the inclusion of games for children.

About this property

Located a stone’s throw from the coast, Rock Lobster is a spacious holiday home in the picturesque village of Port Isaac. A reverse-level property, the layout of Rock Lobster is designed to make the best use of the spectacular views that can be enjoyed from the top floors. On the ground-floor you will find a cloakroom with WC, utility room, a bedroom with bunk beds and a single bed – ideal for a family with young children – as well as a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower and sea views. The living space is all on the first floor and benefits from lots of natural light provided by the large patio doors that open to a Juliet balcony. The stylish kitchen is well-equipped with all the amenities needed to rustle up a quick snack or gourmet meal, and after dinner you can retire to the corner sofa and enjoy the views of the sea from the balcony. There are two more bedrooms on the second floor; another king-size room with sea views and en-suite shower, as well a room with bunk beds. To the rear of the property there is a patio terrace where you can enjoy al-fresco dining or simply sit and soak up the sunshine while enjoying a refreshing drink. Made famous by the TV series Doc Martin, fans of the show can enjoy a guided tour of the village to see all the filming locations used. Within a short drive are the beaches of Polzeath and Rock, where you can explore rock pools, build sandcastles, and try out surfing or windsurfing. Enjoy a holiday to remember at Rock Lobster.

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.

The views were better than we expected and probably deserve more focus on the advert! Really well stocked, in Particular the kitchen had everything including sharp knives! Unusual for a holiday cottage. Mattresses are the only thing that we didn't get on with, there were even electric car hookups in the public car park 30seconds from the property. Highly recommend staying here and for the money I don't think you could find better

We definitely felt like not including some of the amenities made it less homey, less like an Airbnb type "home from home" stay and more like when you rent a static caravan. This brought the rating down for me as having to bring bedding, towels and tea towels means you're having to pack more! We only had one hand soap in one bathroom, having handsoap in all bathrooms and the kitchen is a welcome homely touch and guests wouldn't think about bringing handsoap to a holiday home so we had to share a handsoap between 4 toilets and 6 people. Other than this one point, the house is lovely, the location is stunning and we had such a lovely holiday. The layout of the kitchen area is perfect and the sofa was comfy which is not very common when you stay away somewhere!! Overall, loved it and if the points I made about making it more homely and relaxing for guests to visit were received and actioned, this would be a perfect property!!
