A couple’s retreat resting in the picturesque village of Chediston, Suffolk, The Nook has been lovingly restored to create a contemporary countryside holiday home. The delightful exterior of this property welcomes you to make yourself art home. Relax after your journey in a unique open plan seating area with a beautiful vaulted ceiling. The open plan kitchen/sitting/diner is stunning, with contemporary kitchen, stocked full of amenities, and contrasting with the traditional wooden floor to create a fantastic space for guests to cook together. The sitting area offers a relaxing l-shaped sofa positioned perfectly to enjoy the smart TV and wood-burning stove. Refresh in a tasteful bathroom before resting in the double bedroom with a subtle pink décor and storage for your belongings. In the warmer months, make use of the shared outdoor space overlook the countryside beyond. The delightful Suffolk market town of Halesworth is full of character, with old buildings, a weekly market held on a Wednesday and a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants, which are predominantly independent. The Halesworth Town Trail offers a walk through the town whilst learning about its history, whilst within easy reach is the gentle, undulating surrounding countryside, which is ideal for walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers. The beautiful Suffolk Heritage Coastline features unspoilt heathlands and the RSPB Minsmere Nature Reserve, whilst the internationally renowned Snape Maltings Concert Hall, and the delightful coastal towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh are all within a short drive. With the cities of Ipswich and Norwich both within touring distance, Halesworth is an ideal location from which to discover Suffolk.

The village of Hamsterley sits on the brow of a hill between Teesdale and Weardale, on the edge of the North Pennines. Boasting an old village pub, where basic provisions can be purchased, the village is just two miles from Hamsterley Forest, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which covers 2000 hectares of mixed woodland and has an abundance of wildlife. The Forest Visitor Centre, complete with tea rooms, provides visitors with a wealth of information on the many activities available in the forest, including splendid walking, cycling and horse riding trails to suit all levels of expertise. Cycling enthusiasts will be well catered for with the Hamsterley Forest mountain bike downhill trail which has some of the steepest slopes in the UK, together with miles of cross country routes. The forest runs alongside the Bedburn Beck for four miles, providing access to grassy picnic sites and a play area for children, and also stages a wide range of events and activities every summer, from wildlife watches to theatre performances, and the Dark Skies Events are coming to the forest, with introductions to astronomy from trained instructors. With Raby Castle nearby and the delightful market town of Barnard Castle, with its medieval castle ruins and delightful cobbled streets, just 8 miles away, this is an ideal holiday location. The ancient cathedral city of Durham is also close by and is host to a number of events throughout the year so it is well worth checking what you can see while you are in the area.
