About this property

Sit back in your hot tub with a glass of champagne, looking up at the Mont Blanc mountain range and feel totally immersed in the relaxing surroundings of your ski chalet.

Chalet Emeraud offers space, warmth and a homely ambience alongside modern comforts and wonderful hospitality. Sleeping 16-24 guests in the winter months, across nine bedrooms offering flexible sleeping options, gather together in a welcoming living space with its wooden sofas, cosy fireplace, Sky TV as well as DVDs, a music system, books and board games. Help yourself to tea and coffee by the drinks machine and make the most of the well-stocked honesty bar. With high ceilings, artwork on the wall and other pretty touches across the lounge and dining area, there’s a real sense of rustic elegance across this beautiful home.

The staff here take great pride in the high level of hospitality, not just the chef who prepares high-quality three-course evening meals but also the friendly team who service the chalet most mornings and can assist with ski-equipment hire, delivery and fitting, ski passes and anything else you may require.

The cuisine is second to none – you will be greeted with a champagne reception when you first arrive and every afternoon, on your return from the slopes, delicious cakes, nibbles and hot drinks are served by the roaring fire. Breakfast is prepared daily – expect pastries, warm bread, fruit and yoghurt as well as hot items most days. The evening meal is a special affair, often by candlelight with gastronomic delights of a restaurant standard, accompanied by classic French or Italian wines chosen perfectly to complement the food.

Six mornings a week an 8-seater mini-bus will pick you up and whisk some of you away to your chosen skiing area in the Chamonix Valley, bringing you back late afternoon. Whether you feel like a day skiing the slopes of Le Brévent, challenging yourself off-piste around Aiguille du Midi or family time at one of the snow parks of Les Houches, there is skiing, snow-boarding and other activities for all ages and abilities. There are also shuttle buses departing from the bus stop just 100m away taking you to various parts of the valley.

It also takes just five to ten minutes by car or bus to reach Chamonix itself with its bustling atmosphere and incredible Mont Blanc views. Enjoy lunch in one of the excellent restaurants or take advantage of the ‘apres-ski’ scene after your evening meal (most days the staff can drop you off in Chamonix before 10pm).

So whether spending your time skiing, exploring Chamonix or just enjoying the hot tub, sauna and warm hospitality of this lovely home, Chalet Emeraud offers something for everyone surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Mont Blanc massif.

Chalet Emeraud can be found around 4km from the centre of Chamonix in a nearby hamlet with glorious views of the Mont Blanc massif, at the foot of an impressive glacier. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance and you are only 100m from the nearest bus stop with shuttles taking you to many skiing areas across the Chamonix Valley.

It’s about a one-hour drive from Geneva Airport (transfers can also be arranged). The ‘Route Blanche’ leading through the valley and on to the Mont Blanc tunnel is very close by, making many of the towns, hamlets and skiing lifts particularly accessible.

Included in the catered price is a morning drop-off service at 9.00 a.m. in an 8-seater mini-bus that will take some of you to your chosen skiing area for that day, bringing you back around 4 or 5.00 p.m (six days a week). When working, the staff are also happy to drop a group of you off in Chamonix after your evening meal before 10.00 p.m. or they can also arrange taxis. The local shuttle bus usually comes back from Chamonix just before midnight if you wish to experience the ‘apres-ski’ scene in this bustling town.

Chamonix is also well-loved for its restaurants, many serving regional Savoyard cooking as well as international options. There are various skiing options from the town – the Aiguille du Midi and the Vallée Blanche offers challenging off-piste skiing for the most experienced winter-sport enthusiasts whilst Le Brévent and La Flégère feature skiing for a variety of abilities in stunning scenery.

Les Houches, around 4km away, is another great spot with its challenging Kandahar piste, well-known amongst professionals, alongside its gentler slopes passing picturesque Alpine forests and scenery. The snow parks here are great fun for children with sledging and all sorts of family activities.

Another option for a great day out is Courmayeur in Italy, reached via the nearby Mont-Blanc tunnel – experience intermediate skiing, Italian hospitality and yet more incredible vistas.

For a day out without the skis or snowboards, visit the largest glacier in France, Mer de Glace, and even see the ice caves, reached via the old red railway from Chamonix to Montenevers.
