About this property

The Watch House is a dream seaside escape, perfect for drinking in the beauty of the Cornish coastline and relaxing away from the chaos of everyday life. With unmatched, panoramic ocean views and all manner of special and traditional details, this is a holiday cottage with a difference.

Built in 1810, this classical coastal hideaway is a magical getaway for up to six guests. The highlight of the Watch House is, of course, the magnificent views of the ocean, which can be admired from any room. It has one of the best headland views in the South West, and the large windows throughout the property mean you can really make the most of this unique location throughout your stay.

The house itself has certainly been designed with its coastal location in mind. The sitting room is positioned on the first floor, to really make the most of those spectacular views. Meanwhile, the clapper board walls, Cornish stone exteriors and all manner of unique trinkets and decorations mean you can enjoy the coastal feel throughout the house.

With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, there’s plenty of room for everyone inside the Watch House. Meanwhile, the exposed stone, wooden doors and beautiful oak floors give the house a charming, traditional feel, as does the cosy wood burning stove in the sitting room. The small but attractive kitchen has everything you need to treat everyone to a delicious meal… or why not step outside to stoke up the barbecue and make the most of the private gardens?

If you venture out, you’ll find the sandy beach (complete with rock pools) just a two-minute stroll away. The beautiful traditional village of Coverack is also within easy reach, with its many cafes, bistros and ice cream shop.

We have spent the best week in this magical spot. The Watch House boasts the best sea and headland views in South West and it couldn’t be more accurate. Perched next to the sea you can hear the waves from the moment you wake till you fall asleep. The tranquillity and privacy that this place affords makes it a magical getaway and has left us feeling refreshed and reinvigorated. The outside space has been thoughtfully planned to allow you the best views from private and sheltered sun spots. The accommodation was immaculate and comfortable with great attention to detail. The property itself dates back to the days of smugglers and the owners have allowed this history to shine through this house. When we eventually were able to drag ourselves away from this luxury, we experienced a typical Cornish fishing village with all the beauty this has to offer. The quaintness of the village, the watch house and the surrounding area was overwhelming and it was easy to immerse yourself back in time. We were surrounded by walks, beaches and coves and when we wanted to travel a little further we had a huge choice of other outstanding places to visit. The pub next door serves great food at really good prices and it was one of the most memorable holidays we have ever had. We will be back!
