What our customers say about their holidays

This was our first visit to Harlech and we definitely made the right property choice!
Hafod Y Bryn is a stunning property that has been completed to an exceptionally high standard. The first thing we noticed upon entering the house was the wonderful smell, it smelt fresh, clean and quite frankly delightful! The property has the lounge/kitchen on the 1st floor along with 2 very large sized double bedrooms. A bathroom with a shower is also on this upper level. The ground floor contains a stunning bathroom with a beautiful deep fill bath and separate shower cubicle. Across the hall is another large double bedroom with a patio door leading onto a small enclosed terrace area which has a small table and chairs. The lounge is designed in an open plan way encompassing a large kitchen with a great range of appliances including an air fryer, toaster, washing machine and dishwasher. Electric blinds hang above stunningly wide sliding patio doors that open up onto a Juliet balcony with amazing views of the royal golf course, sand dunes and open sea views. The wood burning stove is also delightful and on the two occasions we used it, it just made the wet and cold evenings super cosy. Throughout the property the furnishings all appear to be premium and look fantastic, attention to detail was amazing throughout the property. You can clearly tell the owners care about their guest and want to provide a wonderful experience for them - whomever designed this property needs to come to my home and give me some interior design tips! Bedding and towels are provides and again this quality of this was fantastic - it almost felt like we were the first people to ever stay in this delightful property. One of the things we really appreciated was the doggie goodies that the owners kindly left for our two dogs - it was a wonderful touch! The owners even provide dog towels and feeding dishes. The included cleaning products allowed us to keep the house as spotlessly clean as we could. We even had washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets! Each bathroom also had hand soap and mini toiletries in the main bathroom. It was quite wet and miserable when we visited and the evenings cold, however the electric heating works brilliantly, we only needed the heating on for around an hour before we turned it back off. The drive outside is pretty steep and it can be challenging to navigate with a larger vehicle, however once your confidence builds it does get easier to park throughout your stay, Harlech is a wonderful quaint little village, the property is located only a few metres from the famous Harlech castle which is lit up in pink in the evening and looks stunning! The walk from to the beach takes you down a very steep hill and steps, it took around 20 mins for us to walk there - but it is so worth it, Harlech beach is simply stunning! There is a small high street with lots of eateries around and some other independent shops. The shop at the top of the hill is like an Aladdin's cave, i loved it and the staff were just so helpful - you could literally buy anything in here, and at great prices! The Chinese also does a mean chicken curry! The location is ideal for travelling around North Wales - our visit to Snowdon took around 1hr 20 mins to drive too, through the most stunning scenery. Barmouth (a wonderful seaside town with an amazing viaduct you can walk across) around a 25 min drive away. Beddgelert, another stunning Welsh village is around a 45 min drive away. In summary i can not recommend this property enough. Both my partner and I wish to return. It really does feel like a home from home! It is without doubt the best holiday rental home we have ever stayed in. Thank you also to Sara and Nick who messaged us prior to arriving at the property and then again towards the end of our stay. You both truly have a beautiful home!

The remote location is stunning and certainly the best thing about this cottage.
The owners seem very friendly - we met them both shortly. Overall a very good stay. Cleaning was very good in all rooms, but a bit below expectations in the kitchen. The dining table cover was dirty in various places, and the handles of some of the cabinets felt greasy. We had to rewash some of the dishes and pots, and there was no proper sponge available for doing so. There was also some pet hair on the stacked table set, on the unseen tables. In covid times, given the 'extra time' and attention allegedly given to cleaning, one expects all parts of the house to be spotless. The other parts of the house were all very clean, no complaints there. There was overall certainly enough room for us, but the pictures online are taken with a wide angle and in fact they are smaller than one is led to expect. The garden was fantastic, with amazing views over mountains, sea, and sunsets. The garden furniture was adequate, with a table for eating and chairs for lounging or reading. Bedding could be improved: the mattress felt old and a bit sunk, and the duvet and cover are cheap synthetic material that made us sweat every night. Bathroom was spotless and there was always warm water, which was a treat after wonderful hikes. Overall a very good stay, with some room for improvement as indicated. We can recommend this place, especially for the magical remote location and proximity to very good walks in the fascinating Rhinogydd/Rhinogs. The village of Llanbedr is 12 minute drive away (narrow road!) and the beach just a few minutes furhter.

Lovely, warm and well laid out house. The downstairs twin bedroom with underfloor heating and a wet room bathroom for ensuite was amazing for anyone, but especially for wheelchair users, loads of room. Anyone with accessibility needs, this is the house for you. All the bedrooms were a good size with views from each window. The family bathroom upstairs is a lovely bathroom. Plenty of parking. We found it easy to find using google maps. There is a single lane road to the house but it is easy to drive down and very few vehicles use it as there's very few properties down this lane. The house is a great base for travelling around the area. If you have a full EV car there are a couple of fast charging points in Tremadog, just drive through Tremadog village and there's a nice little cafe on the right hand side with 2 Fast chargers, very easy to find, it's only a few miles from the house. The house is situated in a very quiet place and is great for relaxing, with views all around. Access to the big building that's a ruin, just walk past the front of the building, on the lane that the house is on, and you will come to a small metal gate to access the grounds. I would recommend this house to anyone, it's a great place to stay.

The location is absolutely breath-taking.
It's about 3 miles along a single track road once you leave the main road, as you get more remote, so does the phone and 3/4/5G signal (honestly - this is not a bad thing!). The owners are great and very helpful making us very welcome. The property was clean and had all the amenities we needed for our stay. Itâs remote but it was refreshing to be away from everything and surrounded by mountains. No issues with the TV reception on the free-sat. Some mention the shower isn't very powerful - don't panic... it does the job perfectly! Some mention cleanliness, we didn't have any issues. Remember it is an old property and you'll find the odd cobweb etc. It's a 2 hour walk to the nearest pub (The Victoria Inn). The food there is excellent as was the 2 hour walk back. There is no Wi-Fi at the property and as already mentioned the phone signal is hit and miss. If you are looking for a digital de-tox... look no further! We would definitely stay here again. One issue which has been mentioned by others is the lintel over the lounge door which is a little low - if you are over 5'10" make sure you duck when leaving the lounge!

Spending Christmas in Harlech was an unforgettable experience, and the property was the perfect setting.
We truly couldnât have asked for a better place to stay. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed, and everything about the property was so thoughtfully designed, from the cosy furnishings to the little details and even the welcome pack for our furry family members that made our stay extra special. The hosts were lovely, we exchanged a few messages, which was such a nice touch. One of the highlights for us was the local area. Harlech is a hidden gem, with so much to offer. The stunning beach and breathtaking views of the mountains were the perfect backdrop for daily walks, and we loved discovering the nearby trails. The castle, with its rich history, was also a must-see â a real treasure. Weâve been fortunate to travel to some incredible places over the years, but Harlech has truly captured our hearts. Itâs the perfect mix of serenity and adventure. We canât wait to return, and next time, weâre planning to stay even longer. We would recommend this property to anyone looking to escape to beautiful Harlech for the holidays
