What our customers say about their holidays

Riverhouse Lodge has a spacious, well equipped, airy kitchen with fridge /freezer of ample size, oven and hob, microwave and toaster; all crockery, pans and cutlery are provided for whatever meal one wants to cook.
The sitting room is pleasant with comfortable seating, large tv and dvd player; both bedrooms are of a good size, with plenty of matching storage space in each room, a tv in each room and a comfy chair and table. It was nicely decorated to a good standard throughout and very clean. Also information provided on the area and places to visit. The whole Lodge was decorated with appropriate paintings and photographs of the Dorest area. There was plenty of room for 3 adults to move around without being squashed. The garden is wonderful, a winning design, car parking space is off the road and has adequate space. Each bedroom has an ensuite; one of which is suitable for people with some disabilities as it has grab rails on the shower and it is a larger ensuite in this room (but remember there are 3 steps down into the kitchen). The electrics throughout and the lighting is all excellent, including security lights. The Lodge felt secure and is very well maintained. Upwey is a very pretty village with the Wishing Well tearoom nearby - delicious meals all day. There are many interesting places to visit in the vicinity for day trips: Weymouth is a typical seaside town, very busy, but lovely sand. The Jurrassic Coast road is beautiful = Burton Bradstock beach ideal and Lyme Regis very interesting but very hilly. Inland - Hardy's Cottage and Lawrence of Arabia's cottage are both worth visits. We were lucky as we had a splendid week of weather, over 20 degrees each day of our stay.

As many others said, the door was an absolute pain to get shut/locked - it clearly needs replacing, and mentioning it in the guest info is simply not good enough.
But the main problem was - Misleading description - no mention of the car park barrier being NEXT to the cabin, or that when anyone drives in or out, which happens quite a lot, the barrier is swung right across the cabin deck steps and entrance so that random strangers holding it open for their companions are standing awkwardly 2 feet away from you, or reminding the driver to get frozen peas on their supermarket trip, etc, while youâre sitting on the deck trying to have a relaxing breakfast. Weekend was especially busy. It was AWFUL. We were hoping for a quiet and private getaway and got zero privacy- people are walking past so close to you, itâs disconcerting. AND âAwake to views of Monmouth Beachâ not true - from the cabin we could actually only see the large mobile home in front and their blue Volvo. Not the beach. And finally, âspot of alfresco dining on the front verandaâ¦â not really possible, as the chairs were sun lounger style and no dining table just a small tray sized coffee table. Weâve booked several holidays with Lyme Bay Holidays but this may have been the last.

Albury house was to allow the gathering for the celebration by family(8) of a 70th birthday! It did not disappoint. All very straight forward by Dorset Hideaways to secure for our time. The house and gardens all very spacious as is the parking for easily for 4 cars, which we needed. The generous welcome pack allow us to get off to a good start, tea and cake all round. Blessed with sunshine the trampoline and full size quality table tennis table and kit came into their own for the young, and young at heart, leading to the need for a trophy. Full use also made patio and garden furniture as garden also gets its fair amount of sun. Entertainment in the house also well catered for given our mixed ages. Tech savvy persons an advantage from older(74) point of view. Team work enabled full English breakfasts to be produced from the Aga and conventional cooker. The Royal Oak pub across the road from the house needs a mention, did us proud(11), Saturday evening and Sunday lunch, need to book early, as great food good value and the "Team" for attentive service. Midweek too.

The property was very cosy.
It was clean and tidy. There was air conditioning which was extremely fortunate as we enjoyed wonderful hot weather whilst there. There were however some problems. a) The broken entry door, it has fallen in the frame and required lifting each time to shut. What made this more annoying was it was mentioned in the customer handbook,so obviously it has been broken for some time. It took us 5-10 minutes to shut most days and was heavy, as an OAP this was annoying. b) The toilet seat was wobbly, thankfully my husband managed to fix it. c) Although the information beforehand tells you that the property doesn't have parking but you're next to a public car park, the cost of parking is £1.90 per hour making a big impact on finances. Thankfully we were allowed to park in a private space. Overall the holiday was lovely, good dog friendly beach, and cafes.

I absolutely loved staying here.
I felt very safe and comfortable. I really appreciated the eco products and green cloth (same as I use at home). However, after my long drive I was tired and just couldnât work out how to operate the hob for a cup of tea! But I experimented the next morning and made it work, so more info on that would have been good. I also had trouble finding the tin opener and hair dryer (I assumed there wasnât one). The heating was easy to use (once Iâd googled the controller), so I was lovely and warm when the weather was rough outside. Just a couple of maintenance issues: the curtain pole I think needs attention and the shower door didnât seem to close properly. But all in all I had a wonderful time! I got plenty of exercise walking into town and in the evenings was able to relax on the sofa listening to the sea and storms outside.
