What our customers say about their holidays

We found Victoria Cottage to be a pleasant stay over the Christmas week.
The cottage is in a great location in Chipping Norton, walking distance to all local restaurants, pubs and supermarkets . The large rear garden is a great asset (would be lovely during the warmer months!). The car space is tight but was available at all times during our stay. The property falls short overall cleanliness and maintenance. Cleaning supplies provided were slim and lack basics. We had to request a hoover and dust pan which was provided same day. After use of Difficult to maintain the cottage without providing the essentials. Fireplace was a lovely feature but no instructions to remove the ash build up. Victoria Cottage is in a great location within the Cotswolds but does require improvements. The cleanliness of the cottage including dust throughout needs to be addressed. The mould in the upper bedroom also illustrates the overall maintenance issues of the cottage. These issues can be addressed with continuous maintenance. Overall Victoria Cottage is a nice rental but does require improvement. Location, layout and outdoor space is great. Just needs deep clean and more soft facilities. Victoria Cottage appeared a more clinical rental compared to prior rentals I have stayed with Manor Cottages.

A fantastic stay in this property.
We were made to feel special straight away with the welcome basket. A warm, cosy, original cottage in the heart of the friendly old town. Amenities close to hand and a great base for sight seeing/ visiting old haunts. Clean & well maintained. Cosy beds, great kitchen, cute living space, lovely bathroom ( great first a pamper) and plush carpet. Useful feedback: Kitchen: Would benefit from a tin opener/ bottle opener, waste food recycling bin, glass recycling bin outside and a sieve. Left hand tap handle kept falling off. Living room: instruction folder for telly, heating and microwave. Comments book & a lamp (for subdued lighting in evening). We used two from upstairs and made it feel even more cosy. We were there when bad weather struck so lots of cold air coming in under front door. Optional draft excluder may help in winter months. We know this is a new holiday rental and is work in progress so this is why we have added more suggestions. For me, my sister, two girls and a dog this was a fantastic property and nice to see a different aspect of the old town. Our grandparents used to live in Eastbourne and this break helped us say goodbye.

It was a nice stay, however would be worth while to share more realistic photos to set expectations of the outdoor areas actual size and upstairs.
The signs around the property about cleaning and fees that will be charged arenât the most comforting when youâre enjoying a weekend away. All our guests made a comment about these at some point. The light bulbs are extremely cold and bright and no option of dimming, we had to remove most lightbulbs and go to the extreme of checking the local supermarket if we could buy some, as the owner wasnât able to help. It meant having a cosy evening was placing our phone lights round the room to try and make spotlights instead. Beds need replacing, some guests ended up doing mattresses on the floor due to the bed being so squeaky and rocky. Cleaned before arrival as expected but the whole upstairs was over powering smelling of bleach, so we had to air out all the rooms as much as we could. I recommend just making some small tweaks to make guests experiences better and more homely. Good for a group as nice to have multiple bathrooms available, and open living space, but very small outdoor space or area to sit in the sun. Over all a lovely stay due to the company and being all together but definitely some improvements and expectations to be changed.

Sadly the listing for this property was very misleading, No pictures of the bathrooms and for good reason, they were awful!
No pictures of the surrounding area for the same reason, no view at all. On arrival the first thought was how dirty the propert was, filthy taps in most rooms and our en-suite shower room had so much dust around the sink you could leave finger marks through it. The shower room also had such a mouldy shower, you could scratch it off with your finger nail! On making a cup of tea the kettle had so much limescale in it that there was white bits floating in the tea. The owners did leave tea, coffee sugar and a jug of milk which was nice, but apart from that we felt totally ripped off! After spending nearly £2400 for a week we were very disappointed. It doesnât seem fair that pictures can be withheld of things like the bathrooms and the view clearly because they donât meet the standards of what most people are looking for. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, which was very good, but lots of the equipment was dirty and needed washing before use. We were really looking forward to a weeks break after working so hard, but unfortunately left feeling like we made a bad choice of property and werenât given the level of property we had paid for.

We were kept awake every night of our 4 night stay by a pack of barking dogs, so not quite the quiet countryside location the property is described as being in.
This really did have a huge negative effect on our stay which we had booked to celebrate my Mum's 70th birthday, we were absolutely shattered when left the property and not for the right reasons. The property itself could do with some refurbishments as it is looking tired in places. The beds are very uncomfortable and I was disappointed to see they were made up with mismatched bedding. The showers are tiny and towels provided are looking worn and are small. The kitchen lighting is awful, it is very hard to see what you are doing in the evening when cooking as there are no under cabinet lights, which teamed with a black work top, black tiles and poor ceiling lights makes cooking tricky. The fridge/freezer provided is very small for the size of the property. The lounge/dining area could do with more lamps or a dimmer switch as the lighting is very harsh. I was disappointed that the owner refused any form of refund for the inconvenience caused by the barking dogs, especially as they have obviously had this problem before due to other feedback comments, which unfortunately came online after we had booked.
