  West Heath Barn was absolutely perfect for our family (three adults, three kids - 10, eight and six - and a dog; we stayed in the Cart Lodge and its annexe room). Within five minutes of arriving the lovely owner Gill had whisked the kids off to feed her chickens, which they loved, but not as much as they loved frolicking with Gill and Dave's energetic dog Woody (guests have access to a paddock for dog exercising their own dogs). The Cart Lodge is fantastically well-equipped (and my husband appreciated the strong wifi). Anything we had forgotten - salt and pepper, tin foil etc - we found in the kitchen. The location is great - 100m metres to Pedders Way for a country walk, while I got in a few 10K runs around the area. As ever, the Dabbling Duck pub in Great Massingham is perfect for families with its outdoor play area and pizza oven. North Norfolk's stunning beaches are all 30-45 mins drive away. We also loved a day at nearby Pensthorpe Wildlife Park (great adventure playground for kids, fantastic ducks, not very pink flamingos). Eric's Fish and Chips is also a winner - don't miss the live candy making at East Coast Rock.At the rear of the property is a field housing Gill and Dave's (mainly Gill's tbh) alpacas, Charlie, Oscar, Hemingway and Huxley. Gill kindly arranged a feeding and walking session with our extended family, which was a priceless highlight of the stay. We can't wait to come back! Thanks Gill, Dave, Woody and the alpacas.

  Norfolk Bolthole : The Cart Lodge at West Heath Barn never fails to fill us with joy as we approach. Our 4th visit was just a week ago and we feel so fully rested after a week in our ‘secret’ Norfolk bolt hole. We all have such busy lives these days, that just a week away from the pressures of work can be so beneficial to us all. The Cart Lodge is a favourite holiday destination for our little Jack Russell cross, Sox, she really enjoys spending sunny days with us there, and if we want to go out without her we know she is safe and happy in the little cottage.This part of Norfolk has amazing access to many long distance walking routes, cycling routes and sports events, including a choice of easily drivable park runs. Often dry and sunny, days can be spent at the beach or walking around Sandringham House parkland. One of our favourite activities is counting how many red kites we can spot, kingfishers or brown hares. The wildlife and birdwatching possibilities are endless.But at the end of a long days activity a hot bath awaits, or the incredible power shower! The Cart Lodge is very modern inside, with an excellent and well equipped kitchen. We mostly self cater, so a good kitchen is important to us. The Barns themselves are very old buildings, but the insides have been modernised in a practical and tasteful way. It all feels very luxurious in the heart of rural Norfolk!

  Favourite Place - This is still our favourite place to go on holiday! Staying at West Heath Barn is like home from home, we have been every year (except Covid) for the last 7 years and even the kids call it our Norfolk home now! The barn is full of everything you might need from a delicious home baked cake on arrival, kitchen appliances to board games and books for rainy days! The beds are so comfy and Gills linen always smells amazing. The location is perfect for getting out and about lots of beautiful beaches close by. We always have a trip to the Dabbling Duck which is always nice. Gill and Dave are wonderful hosts, it is always a pleasure to go and we never want to leave. The kids love the Alpaca's that Gill has and this time we thoroughly enjoyed taking the Alpaca's for a walk! Thank you again for that Gill the kids are still talking about it now. Can't wait to come again.

  This is a lovely property briefly comprising a large dining kitchen,, central staircase and a living room. Upstairs are 2 double bedrooms and a large bathroom. Well decorated and modern fittings throughout. Excellent WiFi connection.Small garden that requires a 20yd walk along soft gravel (would be hard for a wheelchair/pushchair). This is also the location of the wheelie bins. Stream running at back of garden and a table and chairs at which to sit in hot weather (not October!)The street access is tight, cars need to be parked up against the building or alternatively at the end of the street on the village green area, but overall not too difficult to manage.Location is not too far from the coast, and Fakenham is the nearest town for supermarkets etcA good place to stay for a couple.

  My Husband and I stayed at Foxglove Cottage for a week with our Labrador puppy, Meg. It was just perfect - well laid out, well decorated and well equipped. Just outside the back door there's a decked veranda perfect for keeping the dog (and any children) close by if required although they are very welcome to enjoy the freedom of the field with the horses and chickens etc. The location is fantastic, a lovely quiet spot in the country with good local walks and yet just about 20 minutes to any of the beaches on that part of the Norfolk coast. Not to forget to mention that Ed was a super host - friendly and helpful... Thank You. We couldn't fault Foxglove Cottage and would highly recommend it.
