What our customers say about their holidays

This was a very easy experience.
The photos were accurate. Once booked the host contacted me which was a nice touch. A warm welcome was given by the lovely scones with milk and tea and coffee and eggs being provided. I also enjoyed the lovely posy of fresh flowers. The property was lovely, great log burner and one of the comfiest sofas I've ever sat on! The bedroom was a good size and the bed was also very comfortable. A few steps away from the cottage the lovely small town of Stanhope which had a healthy buzz about it and a few nice wee shops and places to eat and drink. Everything had been thought of when equipping this cottage and I appreciated it a lot. I would recommend to anyone thinking of going to this area and thank you to my host, Mark, good job! :-)

This is a great cottage situated in the centre of Stanhope (but away from the main road), only minutes from the excellent selection of shops and pubs.
There are lots of great walks right from the doorstep, including the excellent Ashes Quarry just a couple of minutes walk away. The cottage is well maintained and nicely decorated. On entering, there is a small hallway, with space to hang coats. The large lounge was comfortable, with a nice big sofa and good sized TV. The kitchen had everything I needed, including things like teabags, sugar, salt & pepper etc. The main bedroom was nicely furnished, with a good bed and sufficient storage space. The bathroom had a bath tub (which is a big plus for me), the only drawback being the rather small wash basin, which I found a little awkward to use. I very much enjoyed staying here, and would certainly return.

Wonderful cosy cottage in the heart of Stanhope âââââ Excellent communication with owners.
The cottage was perfect for myself and my husband, teenage son and our Labrador. The bedrooms were super cosy, with comfortable beds. Bath and shower over bath convenient, could have a lovely soak or a quick shower. Log burner in living room was wonderful in the evening to relax and enjoy TV. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook full meals, though we did enjoy an Indian Takeaway on a couple of occasions.... Welcoming scones were superb, with cream and jam (and tea, coffee milk all provided too). Stanhope is a wonderful little village to explore with lots of wonderful walks from the doorstep to explore with the dog. Excellent accomodation, very reasonably priced. We loved our stay, thank you!

Just enjoyed a fabulous week in this lovely cosy cottage.
Thanks to Mark who was in touch with us before & during our stay & left lovely welcome treats including cheese scones, milk, tea/coffee & eggs! Comfy bed & everything spotlessly clean & finished to a high standard. Great to have the log burner too as it was a chilly week. We loved Stanhope & it's friendly locals always happy to have a chat in the pubs! We did some great walks with our dog. The quarry was good at the top of the street & also the woods nearby with a stunning waterfall. Roots very good for an Indian takeaway. We would definitely return for another stay in Bracken Cottage & to explore more of this beautiful county.

Nice welcome with milk, tea, coffee and scones.
Cosy and comfortable cottage, just a few steps and youâre in the Main Street of Stanhope with lots of interesting shops. Lovely gift centre and coffee shop at the end of the street. Beds so comfortable as was the sofa and a lovely log burner to keep you nice and cosy ( it was pretty cold the weekend we were there). Mark the owner kept in touch by text to make sure everything was ok which was lovely. Would perhaps suggest that instructions for log burner and cooker be expanded just to makes things a little easier. However we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend.
