  What An Amazing Cottage And lovelyHoliday.

  We received a lovely warm friendly welcome from Angus upon our arrival to the cottage and a full tour of the facilities which was nice and set us up for the week. Lovely to find milk and cheese a bottle of wine cakes and grapes tea coffee and sugar a really thoughtful touch. The cottage is amazing absolutely spotlessly clean and spacious and furnished to a very high standard there is everything provided. The bed is super comfy and the bath is lovely with plenty of hot water. The cottage is warm and even has a log burner if you want a cosy night infront of the fire. The grounds are stunning with a table and chairs for a glass of wine while watching the sun go down. I really enjoyed the peace and quiet the property provided it was so relaxing and a perfect place to unwind. The location is superb and very close to Berwick and Holy Island etc. Angus provided us with lots of hints and tips on the local area for our bird and nature watching and it paid off we saw some lovely new birds we hadn't seen before and seals dolphins and otters. Nothing was too much trouble for Angus he was always on hand to answer any questions etc a fantastic host.   My stay at Floodden Cottage was my first solo break since loosing my wife two years ago, so when setting off I had some trepidation.

  However, I couldn’t have chosen better. The cottage is situated on the Northumberland/Scottish border making it a perfect base to explore the local historic sites and some of our nation’s most beautiful countryside. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and well equipped for self catering (including a dishwasher). On arrival I was welcomed with a bottle of wine a some yummy treats for both myself and my two dogs. The coach house complex is surrounded by free range chickens, sheep and rolling field making is quiet and peaceful. There are two local pubs one about 250 metres down the road, the second (The Black Bull) around 4 km away in the quaint village of Etal; both of which are dog friendly and serve reasonably priced food. My only criticism is that it was virtually impossible to regulate the water temperature of the shower; notwithstanding, I would definitely recommend this cottage and would not hesitate staying here again. It was exceptional value for money. However, next time I’ll make sure I take my telescope to make the most of the dark sky overhead.

  24/4-29/4/23- Flodden cottage was a smashing little studio cottage.

  Facilities available were spot on and you can pull your car right up to the door to load and unload, parking in the ample car parking spaces just outside the courtyard. We had use of two Paddocks to walk the dogs for last and first wees .. they had sheep and chickens in but no problem as dogs were kept on leads. It was a perfect spot for seeing some of the border villages/castles/gardens and most places very dog friendly. We used our own bedding as we always do but everything was beautifully clean anyway. Comfy bed, big shower (took a bit of twiddling to get the temp right) a short walk to the pub, food was beautiful and vey dog friendly ( book though as they get busy) . All in all a fab week in a beautiful studio with lovely views all around, close to walks, short 10 min ride to Scotland. (Coldstream) . The only thing we bought extra was toilet roll as there was only half a roll , just an oversight I think. We would definitely recommend and be happy to return to explore more of the borders. Thank you!

  This was my second time at this property, so clearly my first experience was positive, otherwise I wouldn’t have returned.

  The property is dog friendly and consists of a number of stables and a coach house converted into holiday accommodation. They are immaculatey clean, comfortable and have everything you need for your stay if you’re catering for yourself, even a dishwasher; but given the great food and welcome you can get at the local pubs such as the Black Bull at Etal, the Bluebell Inn just along the lane and the Collingwood Arms in Cornhill village why bother cooking when on a break? The property is aurrounded by fields and paddocks with sheep and chickens roaming free so you can’t but get relaxed when you stay here. When you choose to be more active the Cornhill-on-Tweed area is ideally suited to explore northern Northumberland and the Scottish Borders with plenty of beautiful nature and history to see. I’m already checking my diary for my third visit. So clearly I wouldn’t hesitate recommending the place.

  Stayed in Beehive barn before lockdown and it was perfect…maybe due to it being new.

  This visit I felt that attention to detail was lacking. ie… the corner sofa had human hair behind the large cusions, lots of it! Shower cubicle in small double needs attention, black mould, and toilet seat urine stained. Outdoor furniture at front covered in green mould and out back the circular picnic table couldn’t be used due to sever paint peel which made it very uncomfortable to sit on. Weather was great while we were there and would have been lovely to eat outside. Lock on front door needs attention. When locked from inside on two occasions we had difficulty opening it (it seemed to jam) which obviously in the event of a fire would be an issue. I am very familiar with keysafes due to my line of work. Again this needs attention as it was difficult to close Kitchen was amazing and very well equipped, lounge delightful too
