  A wonderful holiday I cannot recommend it enoughI have stayed in many cottages but this really was a home away from home. It was as though the owners had just left to go out to the shops! It was quiet, pleasant and comfortable. If you have a dog or young children it has a very suitable garden and there is a wee park just across the road. The shops, cafes and restaurant are about a five minute walk away with the co-op the same distance through the park. The town has a lot to offer and I strongly recommend the market on a Tuesday morning. It is easy to travel all around the Cotswold area in a car from here and nothing seemed to be further than half an hour away. Even visiting at the end of February we were delighted with not only the house but also the area.

  A small property which is perfectly good enough for a couple for a week.

  It is placed almost in the centre if Stow and there are many pubs, restaurants and shops in this lovely Cotswold town. Highlights for us were visitsvto National Trust houses Hidcot Gardens and, even better, Snowshill Manor. Bourton on the Water is lovely but best visited early on a weekday as it attracts so many tourists. Upper and Lower Slaughter are chocolate boxy villages very close to Stow and there are brilliant walks to be had through delightful countryside. Not far away are Cirencester which is the best town nearby that we visited, Tewkesbury was OK. Stratford-upon-Avon just trades on Shakespeare and the unremarkable theatre but apart from a good waterfront on the river and canal and a few old buildings is rather disappointing.

  Our stay at Coln Cottage rates as one of the best ever, please bear in mind I am now 70 years old!

  Everything was set up to be most welcoming, it was lovely and warm on a very cold day. There were lots of items there to help make the most of our time, e.g. an OS map places to see, lots of books and videos and even a 1000 piece jigsaw etc. The standard of everything was very high with a very comfy sofa and very smart high back dining chairs. To be able to park in a private courtyard was also a bonus. The location of the cottage meant easy access to the centre of Stowe with all its cafes, antique shops etc. There is no doubt that we will be back sometime in the future. This place is a gem.

  Rainforest Cottage is right on the edge of The Forest of Dean close to interesting walks and a fascinating Heritage Centre, which is well worth a visit.

  The cottage itself is very well equipped and largely very comfortable. The wifi is excellent and there is the luxury of Sky tv, including cinema and sports, as well as an X box! The only slight issue we had was with the heating which is controlled remotely by the manager although when we asked for it to be turned up or down this was done straight away. For older people the access to the bathroom is down two steps and then up two more without a rail and could be hazardous without care. However, the property can be recommended in this very attractive area.

  We stayed at Fairfield’s for 5 nights last week and had a lovely holiday. The location in the street behind the high street is perfect. Quiet and peaceful yet only a 5 minute walk to the high street / Tesco and restaurants. The garden is beautiful and the blossom fell from the trees like confetti all week. I had my washing dried on the garden line - although the line is only big enough for half a load they also have a tumble dryer so that was fine. The house inside is beautiful.
