What our customers say about their holidays

VERY DISAPPOINTED with the place, though the views were excellent, pity everything else was not represented acutely in the description.
Left early as on day 4 we were woken up early by the window cleaner washing the windows (that had no nets on) whilst my daughter and wife were sleeping for him to have a good stare at. If you are disabled and in a wheel chair forget it, the only good thing is the wet room. Not sure where the 3 level are as it is 2 levels unless it has an underground bunker that we did not find, and we could not find 3 bathrooms either, that may also be in the underground bunker. We did find a shower cubical at the end of the utility room and a small cupboard for a toilet, however I was unable to get through the kitchen door to see for myself as my wheelchair did not fit through the doors. If you want to visit anywhere you needed to add 35/40 mins to every journey as you are 15 miles from the main body of Cornwall down country lanes, so no chance for any takeaways or deliveries, are a no no. The walk to the harbour is more than a challenge you would need to be very fit as the quick way is like a 1 in 2 gradient not a hope in hell of pushing a wheelchair up even my electric buggy could not do it. The longer way is a 1 in 4 and even my 3 fit mid 20âs kids where struggling and a good 15/20 walk all up hill. To cap it all off the sofas and chairs were so low to the floor that you needed help to get up and very old too. Did have a nice recliner there so me and the wife jousted to see who would win. Not the cleanest of places I must say but well equipped, beds, linen and towels all good and a nice welcome pack as well. If you are looking for remote quiet and peaceful place and do not want to do anything and eat in everyday , this fits the bill, unfortunately the next door neighbour was having work done which was very noise and annoying. Nice coop shop but all the others are well expensive even the cafes are ridiculously over priced as they know you cannot go anywhere else as this is all there is for 15 miles.

Five elements cottage was a nice quiet place to stay in Cornwall.
The Farmhouse and Studio are also holiday lets so some noise was expected but this is a rural part of the county so most times all you hear is birdsong and a local cock crowing. The road to the cottage is unpaved and very rough and bumpy so we were glad of our four wheel drive. The Cottage is at the side of steep hill so it can get windy at the cottage even if its warm at sea level. We did an onsite Yoga class with the owner which was excellent. We used the hot tub a few times which was a lovely added feature to the cottage. The cottage was clean and tidy when we arrived. We cooked all our meals in the well equipped kitchen and there are two sets of tongs in the drawer now in response to customer feedback. We did not use the BBQ but it comes with a full set of BBQ tools. The freezer and washing machine are in the utility room and all we longed for was a tumble dryer as the weather was not great for drying our cycling kit outside . But there is an rack to hang clothes on that can be put up indoors and outdoors. Our main issue with this cottage was the interior design which we would have liked to have known about in the marketing brief from Sykes purely for health and safety reasons. The doors frames upstairs are very very low and there are some steep steps up to the two double bedrooms and one step down to the bathroom and single bedroom off the upstairs landing. We kept banging our heads or missing a step. We are not tall but anyone over six feet will struggle at this cottage. Likewise toddlers would find the steep staircase and steps from the lounge to the dining room and then again from there to the kitchen difficult to navigate. For this reason we would not rent this cottage again.

The cottage is beautiful with a serene surrounding, secluded and private so just what we were looking for It was excellently equipped with everything you needed and could want And the cottage itself is beautiful and quirky However the hot tub was a big disappointment for us as we always book somewhere with a hot tub and this was the worst hot tub we have ever had in the most expensive property we have ever stayed Alot of the jets don't work and for such a beautiful accommodation that sleeps 7 I would have expected a top of the range hot tub or spa bath However it is a basic range hot tub with only 1 pump attached when it can have 2 We walk in excess of 20,000 steps everyday and usually make extreme use of a hot tub It does not comfortably sit 4 people let alone 7 A few things bothered me that I noticed which could make this property even better, as it feels like the love is missing since the award was won in 2017 I had to clean the grill before using it as it was dirty, there was a disposable razor in top of the mirror from Previous people, the tops of the wardrobes are filthy discovered when we got our bags down at the end of the holiday so I wasn't looking for dust And the artwork around the house is not from the local area but from Zealand which I guess is a connection to the owners but it would have been nice to have local artwork Overall we enjoyed our stay very much it was a lovely private location with lots of great information for local walks and activities which we did, the cottage is a stunning building and you probably won't be disappointed

Nice cottage with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
Cosy living area and a large dining table for family meals. Nice patio area with plenty of seating and we enjoyed the hot tub. The property is part of a complex of a few other properties but still felt very private. All spotlessly clean. Pretty much everything we needed in kitchen although a couple of smaller saucepans would be nice and there were loads of champagne flutes and not many wine glasses which seemed odd. Two fridges and a freezer which was great. Great location, close to st Agnes which had the most beautiful beach. All in all a pleasant stay with just a few minor niggles - As per another review we did struggle a little as we have a 16 month old and the floors are quite up and down so we spent a lot of time chasing her to stop her falling down steps. Would be helpful if listing mentioned this, pretty much every room has a step or two into it. A stair gate to go between lounge and hallway would be useful so we could have caged her in! The beds and pillows were feeling a little tired and weren't particularly comfortable, although they did have good quality bedding. The upstairs bathroom shower area would benefit from a refresh, some tiles looked a bit rusty or something. Would benefit from a tumble drier or at least another clothes airer or washing line as difficult to dry a whole load. All minor things really which didn't detract from an enjoyable stay

The website was easy to follow and you could instantly see availability. Very clear. The whole booking process was great. In fact I asked if we could book another night (earlier than requested) and if we could arrive early too. My request was passed onto the owners and a very quick yes was made. I was then called. It was dealt with very effectively. The housekeeping staff were actually just leaving when we arrived. (Dropping off extra dishwasher tablets). We didn't manage to get there early, Leeds to Portreath was a long drive. They let us in and then left, saying if we needed anything to call them.DID THE HOUSE MEET OUR EXPECTATIONS!!!! WOW ..... above and beyond. The house was stunning, a wonderful family home that 'others' are allowed to enjoy. We we're so delighted to be able to stay there. Parking for 4 cars in that area. Fantastic. The downstairs space for washing and the table tennis went down a treat. The bedrooms were great with wonderful bedding and very comfortable beds. Fabulous showers and bathrooms. Then the views...... Wow, wow, wow. We hardly left the places. Everyday was an adventure just looking at the sea and beach. We loved the fact there was so many dishes, plates, knives and forks, glasses and cooking equipment making it a family home.WE LOVED IT !!!We will definitely book again.
