What our customers say about their holidays

This is a superbly appointed property which affords excellent accommodation for up to 8 adults.
The property is high spec with top of the range white goods, all fairly new, two kitchens, and lots of quality touches like the movement activated night lights integral to the bathrooms, which are well designed with excellent showers and one bath on the ground floor. The master bedroom has superb views over to Fowey through the balcony doors. We did not use the BBQ but again its a top of the range Webber BBQ, we did use the hot tub which had easy to operate instructions and plenty of room for all with good outside lighting. Polruan itself is small but has two friendly pubs, and the Lugger does food all day, nice breakfast. There is a local store which stocks all the essentials and a bakery, and a cafe which serves food, the Russell Inn were happy for food purchased in the cafe to be eaten in the pub as they are under common ownership. The foot passenger ferry works really well providing swift easy access to Fowey, be sure to check times of the last one back. The car ferry further up is also easy to use but possibly more challenging in the busier months. Access to Polruan is challenging the local roads are very narrow and we preferred to loop into town staying on the B3359 towards Polperro and then taking the local roads as late as possible. Polruan is effectively pedestrianised and it is not possible to get a vehicle up to the property so unloading and loading may take a little time especially as the town is on a steep slope which gives great views but means you are walking up (or down) each trip. There are then 14 steps when you get to the property. Despite arrival and departure requiring a little thought and some effort the benefit of enjoying the luxurious accommodation once settled more than made up for the effort. The car park at the top was £30 for 7 days if aid in advance and you can pay by card. We enjoyed our stay very much and will return.

Our family consisted of 8 adults and a dog and we had a fabulous stay.
We knew the house was going to be lovely but it was even more impressive in real life. The master bedroom, dressing area, ensuite and terrace were all amazing with so much space. Given the top quality furnishings throughout - the sun-loungers on the private terrace could do with upgrading. The kitchen/family room was again very spacious and great for relaxing with the dog. It was really well stocked with mountains of plates, bowls, glasses, cutlery etc and huge pans suitable for cooking for 8 adults. A couple more easy chairs would have been nice as this is where we tended to gather to play our games etc (as we had a dog). Although we didn't use it much, the pet free lounge was very inviting. The utility room, wet room and dog room with stable door were fab. This house is immaculate and the best dog friendly accommodation we have ever stayed in with no 'doggy' smells. The outside area was lovely with great views and the hot tub was a huge hit with all the family. Lots of comfortable garden seating and sturdy picnic table but a bit snug for 8 adults. With having a young energetic dog, we felt that the perimeter fence could have been more secure - but we understand that with the size of the garden this is a large job. We were surprised to see that Prysken had been rented out despite the website saying that it wouldn't - our dog escaped twice as Prysken had left both their outside gates open. The house is ideally situated to visit Padstow, Trevone, Harlyn and Constantine beaches and we made use of the bodyboards, surfboards and wetsuits provided. We would definitely recommend the house and the surrounding area for a fabulous holiday.

WOW, Postcard Lodge is 5 star luxury home.
We have recently stayed at the property, 6 adults, a baby and a small dog visiting friends who live in beautiful Fowey. Itâs an immaculate property with amazing views and facilities. The owners really have thought of everything you would need for your stay. Parking is at the top of Polruan at a cost of £30 per week and yes, as previous previous reviews have mentioned access to the property is a little hilly however the property with its stunning views and facilities are worth the little extra effort. Polruan itself is a gorgeous little fishing village with 2 pubs, a bakery and a little store stocked with things you may have forgotten - we had a Sainsburyâs delivery the day we arrived. We ate at the Lugger pub, delicious food. We also had a takeout of fish and chips one evening from there which we ate on our beautiful sunny patio. The Russell pub has quiz nights a few times a week which we thoroughly enjoyed. The ferry crossing to Fowey is idyllic, day & night. Its costs £5.60 for a return and runs from 7am to 11pm. At Fowey we ate at the Pintxo tapas bar, the Haveners (pub grub), the Harbour Hotel (fine dining) and the Indian restaurant. We would highly recommend all of them. We travelled to Looe, Polperro and St Ives, all of which are beautiful places however we were always pleased to get back home to our idyllic village of Polruan. Overall we had a fabulous holiday and would highly recommend Postcard Lodge - itâs what Cornish holiday dreams are made of. Weâll definitely be back!

We experienced a flood in one of the bedrooms, with water pouring through the ceiling in the early hours, the occupants including a baby had to move rooms.
A bottle of wine had been offered at the beginning of our stay for "a damp patch that had been repaired but not yet decorated". As we accepted the wine John Bray will not accept any responsibility stating that "as we were told of repair work and accepted the goodwill gesture the owners will not compensate" and have advised us to take the owners to court. We would not of accepted the wine if we had known it was more than a damp patch which had not been repaired, resulting in a serious flood. I feel strongly that with the amount of revenue generated, the property should be maintained to a habitable level at the very least. Surely there must be trust on both sides and feel disappointed and let down. We have stayed at Westray on numerous occasions and are very fond of it. but are always surprised at the lack of maintenance and customer welcome offered. Eg no milk, teabags or even salt offered. More seriously, the grill, coffee machine and bedside light faulty, smell of mould in main bedroom, stuck window in top bedroom. These were not reported as we discovered them over the course of the week and did not want to disrupt our holiday. Our only complaint has been the flood and I feel strongly that as the property was not in a habitable state we should be entitled to a partial refund. I hope that the owners are fully aware of these issues.

The lodge was spotless and super clean.
The rooms where of good size and the living area big enough. There is room for 2 cars outside you lodge but will get crowded when other lodges full. The pans in the kitchen arenât the best as scratched to bits to food sticks. The kitchen knives are poor and donât cut very well. The hot tub is just that, a tub that is hot as 70% of jets do work but there are very few bubbles and no force from the jets that work we reported it several times just to be told that we needed to turn the jets on. They where all on as water was coming out of them but with no power. We had no WiFi for 5 days and we reported this on day one just took 5 days to fix. They did eventually get it fixed but the strength was 3mbps not enough for our daughter to watch YouTube kids. I understand it may be week in rural areas but not powering one device is shocking. The lodge squeaks and when I say squeaks you canât move upstairs without waking everyone up you canât roll over in bed as floor squeaks you canât walk to bathroom or on stairs as itâs so loads everyone wakes up. The upstairs double bed rolls you into the middle and the bed squeaks as well The lodge is warm and cosy water is hot once warmed up. Caretaker was polite and did try to fix everything for us but in this day and age you would expect WiFi and a hot tub that worked fully.
