What our customers say about their holidays
Kelsey - Verified booking
We booked the lodge for our yearly summer holiday away.
It was in a lovely secluded area and seemed nice for the kids and dogs. We arrived and after a day we realised there was a massive issues with flies in the area, the manager came and I mentioned it to her and she said it was a bad problem that they suffered with her words â an astonishing amount of flies â as there were 6 flie catches around the lodges. also there was no form of any blinds or even curtain accross the main entrance patio doors which was straight onto the living / kitchen area which had no privacy to keep people from the other lodge seeing in, also with it been a hot summer the lodge became like a green house as there was nothing to block out the sun, so the lodge was unbearably hot to the point we had to sit in the bedroom with the kids as the floor was warm and the main area was just to warm to sit. we then mention this to the owner in which they said there was nothing they could do. we then went to the Tesco and bought our own fans, but then we soon found we couldnât have any of the doors or windows open due to the amount of flies that came into the lodge, more than 30 flies in at one time and it was just impossible to get them all out where we were eating and sleeping, there was just a dust pan and brush and one cloth, which we was staying for 7 days, no cleaner every came round or no more cleaning stuff was given so again I had to go to Tesco and buy all our own cleaning products and had to ask the manager to bring a brush so I could sweep the floors as we were there for a week with 2 adults 2 children a baby, and 2 dogs and wanted to keep it clean, also the hot tub was never cleaned once while we was at the lodge. Which in the end we actually came back a day/night earlier than we was ment to - I then messaged the owners to let them know about everything about our stay barin in mind it cost us over a £1000 to see if there was anything they could do for us as a good wil gesture or compensate for us leaving early, and I recieved a message back saying âsorry you feel that way â then after I had complain about our stay, as my little boy and dogs ended up been poorly when we were back probably due to flies been on all our beds and food ect, as there not the cleanest of things! I left the lodge in immaculate condition cleaning it from head to toe including bleaching both showers and bathroom and everything in the lodge cleaned before we left , and I took videos and pictures of it before we left incase anything was said. I then conveniently after complaining received a message from the owners to say â the hot tub had grass and hairs in â complaining and suggesting I might have let my âdogs play in it â - no one in there right mind would let there dogs play in a hot tub Yet a family of 5 and 2 dogs had stayed at the lodge and it had not once been cleaned, I then stated itâs hard to keep a hot tub immaculate with that many people and not even as much as a proper brush to clean the floors, so hairs might of accidentally of been stuck to the bottom of our feet and then into the tub which would only be natural and nothing mentioned since about our experience, not professional at all. Very disappointed at the amount of money spent for this, if I had known about these things before I booked I wouldnât have paid to go.

This is our second visit to this location and won't be our last We originally booked in January for my birthday and loved it so much we booked again for my wife's birthday.
Karen is so helpful. Shaun her husband is really kind as well We loved the Hot tub and the log fire and the comfortable seating in the lounge area The bedroom is great and the kitchen is well fitted with lots of cups and plates, cutlery and cooking utensils as well as pans etc - just like home from home etc Think there were about a dozen cups 8 large plates and small plates and dishes - Basically it is incredibly well equipped which is very good. Nice shower and a spacious bathroom The doorways between the rooms are quite low but MIND YOUR HEAD signs are well displayed!!! Dishwasher and washer in the property and Karen left us a couple of tablets for each as well as some eggs from their own hens - so really fresh eggs -beautiful We were there while the Beast from the East was in full flow and so there was lots of snow and it was very cold but we were warm inside We enjoyed the Hot tub, just fantastic sitting in the Hot tub with the snow falling!! There is undercover parking for the car and it all felt very safe and relaxed The property is actually attached to the owners bungalow It is really quiet and as there are no street lights its a dark sky area so the ability to star gaze is really good and we had some great sightings of the moon We took trips out to Hornsea, Bridlington and the time before we ventured up to Scarborough - all within easy travelling distance There are no shops in the village of Ulrome but just on the Hornsea road, couple of miles in Atwick, there is a local shop with a cash machine (free) and local shop provisions A couple of pubs around the area offer some good meals, Post box about a hundred yards down into the village. If you want to walk on the beach take the Bridlington road and then take the road to Fraisthorpe and from there you can walk to Brid, have a coffee and then walk back to your car! Highly recommended

Overall a really lovely pod - a great size for our party of 2 adults, 2 children and 2 small dogs.
Furnishings are lovely, the kitchen is one of the best equipped kitchens I've seen throughout our stays in pods. Also the shower facilities are the best I've used in a pod. Initially found the automatic light turning off in the bathroom annoying when trying to shower, but then realised that the mirror has an on/off light! Great feature! The location is a great location, right next to a small park for the kids, and not too far to drive to supermarkets and/or beaches. Still feels nice and rural in location though. I will move on to my small list of improvements, there is clearly a fly problem. I feel the site is doing the best they can to manage this by putting fly traps around, but there are still lots of flies in the pod. This is to be expected in a glamping location though and they did leave plenty of bug spray for us to use. I think adding curtains on the main doors would just add to comfort a bit. It's not entirely necessary because you're facing the back of the other pod but it would add to a homely feel. Also, the main doors had no way to keep the door open like a hook or latch, which meant we could not have the doors open during our stay because the wind was so high that the door kept slamming shut (even when we placed a chair in front of the door). Unfortunately that meant the pod was quite warm because even though it was windy, it was sunny so the pod quickly heat up. I think small additions that we have seen in other pods such as an airer for drying hot tub clothes, and small games for entertainment, and complimentary tea/coffee for arrival day would have been a nice addition but overall the pod was lovely, and the small impact of these negative points would not stop me from returning to Lennon Lodge.

Willow Cottage is in a good location in the quiet village of Ulrome.
It has a very peaceful atmosphere day and night. There is a well stocked shop in nearby Skipsea, and Ulrome is relatively close to Bridlington, Filey, etc. There is a lane going from Ulrome to the sea, but coastal erosion is very evident here so there are safer beaches in other nearby villages. The cottage owners live on site (in Ivy Cottage, on Main Street), and they are very pleasant and helpful. Willow Cottage is behind and at right angles to Ivy Cottage, so it isn't visible from the road. On site there is a large, gravelled courtyard, easy parking undercover and very pleasant grounds (including seating in the paddock under the willow trees next to the pond). Friendly chickens and ducklings live in the paddock. Willow Cottage has its own (fenced off) outdoor area, with table and seating, and a beautiful hot tub under a permanent gazebo. Plenty of privacy. The Cottage is well-equipped and certainly spacious enough for two people. There are electric panel heaters, plus a wood-burning stove. The bathroom has WC, washbasin, and a large shower cubicle, and water pressure is very good. Older and/or disabled people please note that there are no grab rails in the shower cubicle, or adjacent to the WC. Narrow doorways would also prevent wheelchair access into and around the cottage. Willow cottage has been sympathetically converted from very old farm buildings. Unfortunately there are two very low interior doorways (5'5" and 5'8") and as hubby is 6'6" and I'm 5'7" this did cause some problems as we were unaware of this before arrival - although I'm loathe to put that it didn't meet our expectations just because of this one feature Apart from this, we had a really enjoyable, relaxing and peaceful holiday.

Wow what a gem of a cottage in such a tranquil setting too just oozing wildlife.
The hosts Karen & Shaun couldnât have been more hospitable or friendly nothing was too much trouble for them. We didnât want to leave at the end of the week. This cottage has absolutely everything you could want & more for a self catering holiday. Upon arrival there was a lovely welcome pack consisting of fresh eggs (from their own hens) milk, tea, coffee, sugar & lovely biscuits. There is a beautiful log burner which we took advantage of most nights as we didnât fare well with the weather. The poor weather didnât spoil our holiday though we went somewhere everyday then came back to the cosy logburner. This cottage is perfectly situated for Hornsea, Bridlington, Scarborough, Bempton, Filey & Flamborough. There are pubs about a mile away in Skipsea & Barmston & its on a bus route too. All info is in a book in the cottage. We had the best nights sleep ever here in the kingsize comfy bed & a huge shower cubicle in the bathroom. I would add that the wifi signal is perfect in the bedroom but weaker in the lounge but was told Shaun is organising a booster for this. It was never a problem anyway as we just made sure we connected in the bedroom when we needed to. An added bonus to this cottage is the fabulous hot tub which we took advantage of & a lovely garden to sit in on sunnier days. Please do book this cottage you will not be disappointed it really does have everything. We will def be back!
