  We loved the cottage, the decor, the facilities: that big bath downstairs, good kitchen, shower, telly, garden, fairly close to the sea, well insulated, but having extra heaters, the whole feel of the place!

  A couple of little niggles: the washing machine smelled of fungi - I did a hot wash in it after, so hopefully sorted, might need a wash with some vinegary water. The drying machine came in handy after a rainy day! What is nothing to do with the cottage: narrow roads, often single, so a bit stressful driving, but mostly ok, but drivers to be aware. Would be useful to have some more information about: local shops, how to turn on the hot water for the bath (that it needs about an hour, otherwise switch in cupboard by washing machine), we figured out everything else. Tv worked well, and loved the safe and big garden (needs mulching and feeding with organic matter in the autumn, but lovely). Extra bonus to have a freezer as well (we left a frozen chips behind for somebody :D), and left a couple of blue, white and gold plates (they are old, but hope could be used in the decorations). Didn't dare to touch the nice Willeroy Bochs ones, but loved looking at them, the others were great to use and pretty, the whole place has a lovely atmosphere. We were very lucky to have had it for a better price, apart from the long journey from the Midlands, would love to be back someday. Also a great base for visiting several lovely places around.   We stayed at Pirata in September 2024.

  We had a very mixed stay with the property. Firstly the plus points - The location is excellent and off road parking in Charlestown is at a premium so it was great that this was included. The kitchen was generally well equipped (however missing the microwave that was advertised) and the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately this was outweighed by the negatives. The cottage had not been cleaned prior to our arrival and we were unable to contact the owners. Sykes were eventually able to contact them the next day, but we had to spend a night in used beds. The bathroom was very dated, smelled damp and had an old flickering halogen light which only turned on intermittently. The bedroom had french doors looking out onto decking, which should have been lovely, however the doors were warped and did not close properly, the week we visited was cold and wet and there was therefore a constant draft from the doors making it impossible to warm the lower portion of the property. We were provided with a nominal refund for the lack of housekeeping on the first day, but this did not cover even 1/10th of the cost of the stay. Overall would not recommend, although as noted above location, parking and nearby Charlestown are fantastic.

  Beautiful cottage for our wonderful Autumn stay.

  I know it's an old property, but the amount of cobwebs around the lights and especially behind the headboards of the single beds were a little off putting - a good vacuum would sort this. Lots of clutter, ornaments etc, where you could see that they've been polished around. Too many plates cups and too much cutlery for a cottage sleeping only 4. The bathroom light is temperamental. The fire in the living roomed worked, however the display did not light up. The upstairs main bedroom the floorboards move so much we were worried the wardrobe and chest of drawers would tip over, or the ornaments would fall and smash. Please remember to take a toilet roll as we arrived before going to the shops and there wasn't no toilet roll at all. However we did have a lovely stay, during storm Ciarán, we certainly couldn't hear much of the bad weather from inside the cottage and we were warm enough. A well stocked shop a short walk down the road and a lovely café. We would like to return to this beautiful cottage.

  We loved this cottage!

  It was very beautifully furnished and well equipped in a lovely location. We enjoyed sitting outside every evening watching the jackdaws coming in to roost nearby. The patio courtyard garden was peaceful and inviting. It was lovely to stay somewhere with a good sized main bedroom with plenty of hanging space. The bathroom was lovely and the rain shower was hard to get out of! The owners had provided a cream tea on arrival which was absolutely delicious and a lovely surprise. It was also great to be able to check in at 3pm and this is something that attached is to the cottage in the first place. So many cottages don't allow check in until 5pm and having a couple of hours extra on holiday really made a difference. I would highly recommend this cottage and a heartfelt thank you too the owners for making our stay and time in Cornwall really memorable.

  We loved this cottage - quietly tucked away in Lostwithiel.

  We had a fabulous stay over a bank holiday weekend. There was everything we would have needed for a self catering weekend, however we ate out. It was very handy for Fowey and we discovered a lovely breakfast at The Duchy of Cornwall Nurseries only 5 mins away (in a teepee tent) Christian (the owner) popped by with fresh Scones and clotted cream which was a lovely touch and having arrived late on the Friday night it was great to find milk in the fridge. We are 2 adults with 12 & 13 yr old sons. The cottage was perfect for the four of us (and of course the WIFI kept all our 'gadgets' working). We parked every evening in the Free car park a few minutes away. It's about 40 mins to the Eden Project and both Lanhydrock and Restormel Castle (gorgeous views - take a picnic) are right on the doorstep.
