What our customers say about their holidays

We have a lovely stay!
Tracy introduced herself to us and gave us lots of information on the area. Tracy also guided us over the phone as, we turned up at the wrong cottage. Tracy gave us clear instructions over the phone, the night before. My wife and I terrible for finding places even, with a sat navigation. We couldn't find the plugs for our chargers so, we charged our phones in the car over night. Tracy find us a kind mechanic who, recharched our car for us. The paddock by the cottage is ideal for dogs and beautiful views. There are 2 benchs on the paddock so, ideal for somebody like me with bad knees. There is a pub not far away called The church Inn, very nice food and very large portions. The only downside to the trip is no Internet & limited phone connection. This only affected us as, I couldn't check on family members. There is a telephone box down the road however, it didn't appear to work. Overall a very quiet friendly village & most people you pass acknowledged you. Thank you again Tracy for making our stay so special. Linda & Donna

Where to start, I donât usually do reviews but felt I must on this occasion.
The cottage was not very clean, I have photos of the cloths we used to clean the floors and oven. Unfortunately this review portal has no way of uploading the photos. The so called off road parking is not for the faint hearted, I would advise only taking a small car. You can park at the front of the property if you are lucky and the next door neighbours have not taken all the spaces. The Wi-Fi code can be found on the base of the broadband router, itâs not mentioned anywhere in the documentation. There is a key hanging on a hook in the kitchen to unlock an outside cupboard if you want to use the dryer. Again not mentioned anywhere. The road at the front of the property is more busy than the A1. I have never seen so much traffic including motorcycles speeding past the cottage. We could not stand the traffic noise even with the windows shut, so must be a nightmare if itâs hot weather, so we left the property before the leaving day. We rather we wasted money then spend anymore time there.

Monsal cottage is exactly what we needed.
Itâs a lovely clean cottage with everything we wanted right there. It was very clean and very warm. We stayed with our dogs for a week and had a lovely time. The only negative comment I have (and it is not the site owners fault) but some people who stay with dogs did not tidy up after their dog. There is a lively enclosed area to let your dog out for a wee and poo but some people clearly donât have standards and donât clean up after their dogs. I tried to tidy up some of the other poos myself but there was too many. Do these people not realise that eventually the site owners will stop dogs staying there??? Itâs not difficult!!!!! Anyway that is a comment on people not the site owners. We loved our stay. We certainly loved the little gang of goats that greeted us most days on the site. And the site owners were very helpful with any of our additional needs. Highly recommend.

From the moment we opened the door the cottage more than met our expectations.
The accommodation (providing an ideal base for a couple) was spotlessly clean, warm, cosy and very welcoming. Everything we needed was provided with the addition of a welcome pack which was appreciated. We enjoyed the large screen television with DVDs provided, (just like being at the cinema without the popcorn), and we could even watch TV in bed if we wanted. All facilities from kitchen equipment to the shower were excellent and parking was very convenient. The cottage is well situated for walking in the Peak District and some walks can be done straight from the door. We were very lucky and were treated to the unexpected February sunshine for our long walks. The weather combined with the lovely accommodation ensured that this was a very enjoyable holiday. We certainly hope to return in the future. (If published please do not use our actual names - thank-you)

Having lived in Sheffield all our lives before we moved away, we were already familiar with the Peak District .
This lovely little cottage was a pleasure to stay in and provided us with a welcome place to rest tired legs after a day's walking . It is a Country Cottage with it's own original character .A well-equipped kitchen with modern appliances ,/ a comfortable living-room , / the bathroom has a bath for a good soak, (or shower if preferred) /bedrooms are clean ,comfortable and welcoming , parking round the back maybe a little tight but do-able with care ,-people-carriers and 4x4s were not around when these houses were built ! . The neighbours were friendly and pleasant .The road to the front of the cottage is busy, but expected , Rowsley is in the middle of farming country so tractors and farm vehicles use the road during the day , and Chatsworth is just up the road . We had a very enjoyable stay at Lees Moor Cottage and would be happy to stay here again .
