There’s an air of romanticism at this handsome Normandy house, set in beautiful gardens leading to the banks of a quiet river. Only a 20-minute drive from Dieppe, it’s the perfect base for exploring the glorious scenery of Le Pays de Caux and the wonderful beaches of the Alabaster coast.

In its own private position, Maison Paysage is located within the large estate of a 17th-century château. Surrounded by a large peaceful garden, sit outside for al-fresco meals, read books beneath the century-old shady tree or wander down to the banks of the small river for a moment of tranquility.

Experience the welcoming ambience across this holiday home with its cosy lounge and elegant dining area, all with pretty windows framing the rural views. Five attractive bedrooms sleep up to 12 guests – four doubles and a quad bedroom makes Maison Paysage ideal for a close group of friends or family.

Hop on your bike to cycle down the country lane to the beach in Quiberville-sur-Mer, around 8km away, whilst there is an atmospheric bar even closer within walking distance. The nearby village, reached within a 5-minute drive, hosts a delightful market on a Sunday morning or soak up the ambience of Dieppe’s bustling weekly market offering some of the best Normandy gastronomy.

At the weekend, enjoy local oysters sold in little huts by the beach in the idyllic village of Veules-sur-Mer, one of France’s classified ‘Plus Beaux Villages’, take long walks along the coast near Varengeville-sur-Mer by the gorgeous Église Saint Valery, and stroll around the picturesque Jardin Le Vasterival, only 10km away.

Further afield, drive to the white cliffs of Étretat, visit the historic city of Rouen, admire the belle époque character of Deauville or venture to Monet’s gardens in Giverny. Stay closer to home and follow the footsteps of Oscar Wilde in the charming town of Dieppe or simply spend time appreciating the beautiful Pays de Caux landscapes that have inspired the likes of Renoir, Monet and Courbet.

Only a 16km drive from Dieppe’s ferry terminal, Maison Paysage is located in the Seine-Maritime department of Normandy, 8km from Quiberville-sur-Mer and the vast, wonderful beaches of Le Pays de Caux.

The house is set within its own gardens which lead down to the banks of a small river, part of a larger estate which is also home to a 17th century château. You can walk along the private road to reach a small commune with an atmospheric bar whilst the nearest restaurants, cafes, shops and supermarkets can be found in the local village, a 5-minute drive away. The village hosts a delightful market on a Sunday morning selling local cheeses, cider, charcuterie, seasonal fruit, vegetables and more, set in a picturesque square by the Mairie.

You can cycle or drive to the beach at Quiberville-sur-Mer (8km), a much-loved family resort with a long beach backed by a pretty promenade and little huts. As the tide goes out, youngsters can start to build sandcastles beyond the pebbly shores or look out for sea creatures in the rock pools. There is usually a lifeguard present in the height of the summer as well as watersports such as sailing, sea kayaking and wind-surfing.

Play golf in stunning surroundings at Golf de Dieppe Pourville, perched above the English Channel, and make the most of the fantastic coastal trails, especially around Varengeville-sur-Mer. The GR212 walking trail passes nearby, starting at Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer, and there are marked walking paths along the coast. Horse-riding is another popular pursuit and keen cyclists can discover parts of the Véloroute du Littoral between Le Havre and Tréport.
