About this property

In a beautifully private and tranquil part of the Loire Valley, surrounded by countryside dotted with wineries, this 17th-century Manor House offers the perfect retreat within striking distance to some of the gems of this wonderful region.

Exposed beams, original stone walls and rustic fireplaces speak of the manoir’s history, while modern amenities and furnishings offer guests comfort and warmth. Four spacious bedrooms in the Manor House accommodate up to eight guests, while the adjoining, newly renovated cottage, ideal for a family with children, sleeps an additional six across three bedrooms (both with the option of adding an extra bed for a supplement.) For larger parties, an additional gite can be requested for an additional three guests, allowing up to 19 guests in total to stay over the three homes.

Perfect for a pampering holiday or perhaps a unique hen party, the owners can arrange for an in-house masseur to make the most of the massage table in one of the beautifully designed bathrooms for a moment of pure relaxation accompanied by music.

Fantastically secluded with glorious grounds and a heated salt-water swimming pool, spend the days relaxing in the outdoor lounge followed by an evening dining al-fresco by the barbecue and playing your favourite tunes on the duke box, sipping wine from the neighbouring vineyards – you may never want to leave! There's also a wonderful yoga viewing platform at the top of the garden.

Despite this private setting, just a few minutes by car brings you to the local historic town of Doué la Fontaine, well known for being the rose capital of Europe. Just outside you will also find the Bioparc, an animal park in a troglodyte site which provides an immersive experience amidst lush vegetation and waterfalls.

It’s just under a 30-minute drive to the vibrant town of Saumur, resting on the Loire River, with its excellent shops and restaurants, the famous equestrian school Cadre Noir and the delicious sparkling white wine which you can sample in the area. Visit the fairy-tale château, take a boat up the Loire river or hire canoes.

That said, you needn’t travel far to experience the true character of the Loire Valley with Manoir De Levesque’s historical architecture and 17th century charm.

Manoir De Levesque is in a beautiful and secluded setting in the Maine-et-Loire department of the Loire region, only 5km from the local town.

The owners co-own some of the neighbouring vineyards and tours and private wine-tastings in a studio can be arranged. Bread delivery can also be arranged three times a week, as can wine and beer delivery! The owners have three bikes that can be hired in order to explore this wonderful region.

It's just 5km from the town of Doue La Fountaine, a commune steeped in history and known as the rose capital of France, within a region reputed to be the number one producer of the flowers in Europe, exporting them since the 18th century.

Within 4km sits the famous Bioparc of Doue la Fontaine, an animal park located in a shelled sedimentary rock quarry, providing a unique and immersive experience amidst lush vegetation, watered by numerous waterfalls.

The vibrant town of Saumur (26km), resting on the Loire River, has a reputation for its excellent restaurants, its famous equestrian school Cadre Noir and the delicious sparkling white wine which you can sample in the area. Visit the fairy-tale château, take a boat up the Loire river or hire canoes. Other highlights nearby include a visit to the Fontevraud Abbey (36km) or the fascinating Troglodyte caves in Rochemenier (10km).

Heading north, cross the Loire River and you’ll reach the city of Angers (46km) on the River Maine with its magnificent 13th century castle and vibrant cultural and student vibe. Explore the narrow cobbled streets of the old town, full of cafes and restaurants and visit the largest tapestry in the world.

There are plenty of hiking routes in this area or you can hire bikes to follow some wonderful trails both locally and further afield such as parts of the Loire à Vélo, a cycle route which follows the Loire river.

The Manoir is around 3 hours drive from Paris, or the TGV takes 1.5 hours to Angers (46km), either from the centre of Paris (Montparnasse) or directly from Charles de Gaule airport. The Chateau is then 40 mins drive from Angers and car hire is very easy from the station.

What a great week we had. We were lucky with the weather and full use was made of the pool and the lovely grounds. The house is set in such a lovely area and the grandchildren has a great visit to the zoo. We also had a lovely bike ride to Le Toureil, with a great position on the river and a really nice lunch at the restaurant with all the family.

We were a group of 16, 8 adults and 8 children. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property which is very well kitted out and has large bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms. The pictures of the garden on the website do not do it justice and we particular liked the barbecue area and seating up on the terrace with lovely views, whilst the kids loved the pool. The owners were on hand for our stay and very helpful in accommodating our youngest guest and day to day queries. Would recommend it as a place to stay.

The Manoir was spacious, comfortable, well equipped, and set in idyllic surroundings with a wonderful pool. The custodians were very helpful and responsive to all our queries and requests. The welcome pack was generous and useful.
