The house is surrounded by lush green lawns and a paved terrace that is home to your own private swimming pool. The property comes with on, and off-street parking, and complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout. Villa Vari is constructed out of classic Mediterranean white-washed walls, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that open onto mountain-view terraces and balconies. The interiors are superbly stylish, think minimalist chic for maximum impact, decorated in a sophisticated monochrome colour palette.

Enter the villa at ground floor level, where you will find a Wow Factor, light and airy, open plan living space. The setting and décor is spectacular, with a huge white super comfy L-shaped sofa, a designer reclining white chair, and a white coffee table, all facing a wall with a built-in flat screen smart television, and an in-set fireplace, for those cooler months and evenings. The adjacent black and white dining set would make for some seriously impressive indoor entertaining. The all-white kitchen with stainless steel appliances, is fully equipped with everything you will need to cater for your holidays, including a preparation island breakfast bar and stools. There is a bedroom with a double bed, and a large bathroom, which completes the ground floor. A stunning sweeping staircase will take you to the first floor, where there are three further bedrooms, two with double beds, and one with two twin beds. All the bedrooms have an open plan or walk-in wardrobes, and flat-screen televisions, some with furnished panoramic view balconies. There are two more enormous family bathrooms with walk-in showers, bathtubs, hand basins, and WCs. On the first floor there is a glass-fronted terrace, with a seating set and swing chair, the perfect place to meet for cocktails, and watch the sunset over the mountain backdrop.

Access the terrace and garden from the ground floor living space, where there is a step-entry swimming pool, surrounded by white cushioned sun loungers, and parasols to shade you from the afternoon sun. A double-day bed is ideal for relaxing and catching up with the latest bestseller. If you are feeling active you can play a game of ping pong in the garden. As the sun dips over the yard arm, pull up a seat at the outdoor dining set, feast alfresco of local delicacies freshly grilled on the barbeque, and raise a glass of Cretan wine to the most memorable holiday.

Villa Vari is set in the Cretan countryside, with magnificent mountain views, in the tiny village of Varipetron, near the north coast of the idyllic island of Crete in the azure Aegean Sea. The villa is eighteen kilometres from Chania International Airport. The village of Varipetron is four hundred metres walk through orange, lemon, and olive groves. For provisions for your holiday, it’s a two and a half kilometres drive to the nearest village with minimarts, whilst the town of Chania is eight kilometres from the villa, with a selection large selection of supermarkets and stores. Walk the narrow streets of the old town of Chania, down to the Venetian harbour, with its sixteenth-century lighthouse.

Visit the Nautical and Archaeological Museums, and take a stroll in the Municipal Gardens, before enjoying a delicious dinner of freshly caught fish at a waterfront restaurant.  There are five fabulous beaches within a six-mile radius of the villa. Glaros has a secluded sandy shore, with a rocky bottom, and is ideal for snorkelling; Stalos has an organised golden sandy beach and mini golf; the white sands of Kalamaki has sun loungers, brollies, lifeguards and showers, and is lined with shops and cafes; the popular Iguana at Agios Apostoli has golden sands with crystal clear waters, and is close to Chania; whilst the crescent-shaped Yannis has fine sand, is superb for swimming, and climbing over rocks to find secret caves.

A short drive will take you to the port of Souda, with the archaeological site of ancient Aptera, an Ottoman fort, and fabulous seafood by the seashore. Explore the three hundred caves the island hides, hike over hillsides, streams, and rocky ravines to discover watermills and ruins, and stop along the way at a local winery to taste the fruits of the many vineyards. All aboard a boat trip, where you can scuba or snorkel underwater ruins, or jet skis and paraglide with one of the many water sports clubs. Spend the day in the port town of Heraklion. Visit the ancient Palace of Knossos, and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, walk along the Venetian walls, and stroll through the old quarter, where you can shop for souvenirs.

Go further afield to Vai, Crete’s easternmost tip, where you will find lush forests and a unique date palm. Explore Psychro Cave, reputedly the birthplace of Zeus, and rock climb Mount Ida to find the Ideon Cave. Sitia Geopark is three hundred and fifty square kilometres of the island’s diverse ecosystem, where you can trek through gorges, bathe on beaches, walk the wetlands, and bird-watch. Hike the Richtis Gorge, and stroll through streams to reach the twenty-metre waterfall, where you can cool off in the inviting pool.

Find solace in the fifteenth-century Toplou Monastery, and admire its beautiful Byzantine icons. Take a boat tour to visit the intriguing island of Spinalonga, once a former leper colony with a Venetian fortress, and now an open-air museum.
