Cartron Cottage is the perfect place for a family to come and spend some time together on the edge of Ballintubber, County Mayo. You will find off-road parking on arrival for three cars; admire the quaint décor before stepping through the red front door. Enter the open-plan living space, furnished with a sofa, two chairs, a TV, and dining seating for four to enjoy mealtimes together. Prepare home-cooked meals in the kitchen area, with an electric oven and hob, and microwave to assist you, whilst a dishwasher offers a fuss-free clean. Soak up the sunshine from the gravelled garden, where you can choose between the front, side, or rear part to make the most of the daylight. As the evening winds to an end, retire inside and locate the double and twin bedroom, both with a dash of colour and matching furniture. Begin your day with a rinse in the tiled shower room before sipping your morning coffee in the garden to admire the countryside backdrop. We had homemade bread and marmalade on arrival along with a bottle of wine! The cottage itself has a warming fire at it's heart and amazing arrangement of objet d'art and collectables on the shelves, bookcases and tables. It is great location for drives along the Wild Atlantic Way and there is lots to do in Westport with traditional Irish music every night.

Lovely for walking and cycling. Balintubber Abbey nearby and the Museum of Country Life well worth a visit. Kathleen is a wonderful hostess, full of information about local eateries and amenities ( she also left a very welcome food pack!). The cottage is charming with many of the original features still to be seen. I would strongly recommend a holiday here.
