Cahir, as one of County Tipperary's heritage towns, serves as a popular starting point for visitors eager to explore the surrounding area. Cahir Castle, a beautifully preserved defence castle, is located there on the banks of the River Suir. The town is home to a number of bars and eateries in addition to a few shops. Cahir's local golf course and tennis courts are great for those who like to keep active, and the town also features a mountain biking trail. The Galtee and Knockmealdown mountain ranges are both easily accessible from Cahir, and they both feature a wide range of hiking options. Wonderful all year round.
