The hilly areas around the village present an attractive web of winding, leafy lanes festooned with honeysuckle and fuchsia in season. From the hilltops, superb panoramic views extend across Clew Bay to Clare Island, once a stronghold of the Pirate Queen, Gráinne Uaile.
