The location is frequently highlighted as perfect for exploring the Inishowen Peninsula and is within walking distance to amenities. The positive remarks about the setting and accessibility to local attractions indicate a very satisfactory location.

The cottage is repeatedly referred to as comfortable, warm, and spacious, providing everything needed for a family holiday. The emphasis on comfort in the reviews suggests a high level of satisfaction in this category.

While the property is generally well-equipped, there are suggestions for more kitchen pans and outdoor seating. The absence of a manual is noted, but overall, the facilities meet guests' expectations.

The owner's thoughtfulness is evident through the provision of a welcome pack and their willingness to assist guests. However, it should be noted that such personal touches, while appreciated, may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Resting on the outskirts of Greencastle in County Donegal is Rockville, a fabulous three-bedroom cottage, inviting six guests and one well-behaved dog. Enjoying far-reaching views of Lough Foyle and a rural setting, whilst a short journey away from the beach and a host of amenities, Rockville offers an ideal base for a self-catered stay, including a wrap-around garden, flexible sleeping arrangements, a well-equipped kitchen, and an external bar. Travel up the gated driveway before unpacking your belongings, entering the spacious kitchen/diner; be welcomed by a range of state-of-the-art appliances to assist with mealtimes, along with a dedicated dining area to gather as a group. Enjoy a stroll across the wrap-around garden before relaxing in the sitting room with the woodburning stove alight. Finish off the evening with a nightcap in the bar, before resting in one of three well-appointed bedrooms, including two doubles and a twin. Awaken to a refreshing shower in either shower room, before beginning your adventure across County Donegal, starting off by following Ballybrack Beach Walk, touring Inishowen Maritime Museum, or enjoying a round of golf at Greencastle Golf Club, enjoying extensive countryside views. Continue to visit Stroove Beach and the heritage-rich Inishowen Head Lighthouse, before crossing the border by ferry, with the chance to hike through Umbra Nature Reserve, exploring the breath-taking landscape of Dunne Waterfall, opt for the best vantage point at Gortmore Viewpoint, or hike up to the Mussenden Temple, offering views over Northern Ireland. Experience all of this, and more, at Rockville.

Newborough Castle, which was constructed from green freestone and gave the settlement its name, is located at Greencastle, a charming vacation destination on the coast of County Donegal. The village's pier is a lively, thrilling location where fisherman daily land their catch and parked boats bob in the water. Greencastle is an excellent fishing location since it borders Lough Foyle, one of only three glacial lakes in Ireland, and is close to the 18-hole Greencastle Golf Club, which is just one mile away. There are many places to discover near Lough Foyle, and you may even visit the well-known lighthouse at Inishowen Head. Dine out in style in Greencastle at the acclaimed Kealy's Seafood Bar then unwind with a drink at a neighbourhood pub. The Irish beach town of Greencastle is fantastic.

Excellent location with restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. Seafood restaurant was first class, serving some of the best seafood and fish dishes we’ve ever had. Our only criticism would be a lack of outdoor seating to make it more comfortable and enjoyable. Clothes drying facilities outdoors or a clothes horse.
