For fresh, local seafood pay a visit to Catania’s famous fish market and stock up on ingredients for cooking up a delicious meal back at the villas.

The spellbinding town of Taormina is just a 30-minute car journey away. The Piazza IX Aprile, Teatro Antico di Taormina and the Valley of the Temples are just some of the sites not to be missed here. Make sure to also visit the phenomenal nature reserve of Isola Bella, an island which is connected to the mainland by a short strip of sand and can also be reached by cable car. There’s a pebble beach on offer here, as well as crystal-clear waters for swimming and trying activities such as snorkelling and diving.Another astonishing attraction to see in Taormina is the Chiesa Madonna Della Rocca. It provides some of the best views in town and is worth the hike to get there!

Further afield, towards the Southern tip of Sicily, the historic city of Syracuse is only an hour’s drive away. Here you can admire the city’s rich Greek and Roman history, culture and architecture, as well as exploring the island of Ortigia.
