About this property

Located just moments from the picturesque beaches of Tarifa, Casa Cueva Pequena is the perfect spot to enjoy a romantic stay in a secluded setting. Enjoying a rural position, the surrounding landscape of grassy hills dotted with pines and rocky outcrops with cows and horses roaming freely gives a sense of being completely removed from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Forming part of 'The Cave', an idyllic retreat made up of three separately rented houses, Casa Cueva Pequena enjoys its own independent entrance and private outdoor space. Refurbished in 2021, the villa is spread over one level and constructed in a traditional style with lightly rendered walls and a typical terracotta tiled roof. The interior rooms are generously proportioned, with exposed timber beams and a bamboo-lined ceiling that complement the minimal furnishing, creating a warm and inviting space. The compact size and tranquil setting make it perfect for a couple to enjoy an intimate and laid-back stay.

Organised into three main spaces, the villa presents with a kitchen-dining area to one side, a spacious central living room and a lovely bedroom and ensuite to the other end. The modern kitchen is well-equipped, with all the necessary appliances and utensils to prepare meals throughout the day, and a roomy dining table accommodates four people. A step takes you up into the living room to an informal seating area with a comfortable sofa and armchairs and a neat window seat. Large sliding doors span the length of the room to frame the view of the outdoor space, and they can be left open to create a fluid inside-outside space throughout the day. The bedroom is found on the other side of the living room, with a generous double bed and a beautifully finished ensuite. The room also features a large opening out onto the terrace, perfect for looking out to the garden whilst enjoying a coffee in bed!

Enclosed by a rush fence and lush vegetation, the garden cannot be overlooked but still enjoys a view out to the mountains in the distance. Both the bedroom and living area give access to the terrace, where a timber decking and two sun loungers invite you to recline in comfort beneath the sun or put up the umbrella and read under the shade. Accessed by steps to the side, the small private pool is a joy for cooling off; take a gentle swim or lie back and float beneath the clear blue skies. If you're feeling a little peckish, cook up a lovely meal on the outdoor grill and eat under the stars on the dining table!

If you're travelling in a larger group but want a bit of privacy, then Casa Cueva Pequena is a brilliant option because of its neighbouring villas that can also be rented through Oliver's Travels! Check out Casa Cueva Lujo and Casa Cueva Mediana and enquire today for more information about renting them together.

Situated near Betis, Casa Cueva Pequena enjoys a tranquil spot surrounded by countryside, whilst the idyllic beaches are within easy reach, making it a great base to explore the local area.

At the southernmost point of the Iberian Peninsula, the vibrant town of Tarifa is just 20 minutes away. Enjoying a warm Mediterranean climate, it boasts a fascinating history thanks to its vital geographic position across the Strait of Gibraltar, and it was once a strategic base for both military and trade. Wander the Old Town and explore the network of narrow streets and cobbled alleys, where you can find typical whitewashed houses dotted with coloured doors and shutters, and marvel at the city's architecture from various periods. Admire the imposing Castillo de Guzman built in the 10th century before walking beneath Puerta de Jerez, the only medieval gateway still standing. For an impressive view over the Straits, head up to Calle Amargura to find the Miramar Gardens. Perched on top of the old city walls, the gardens occupy a privileged aspect with a wonderful view across the sea to Morocco.

For a hop between continents, regular ferry services run between Tarifa's main port and Tangier. Departing several times a day, the journey takes only 40 minutes, making it ideal for spending a day in the vibrant Moroccan port. There are also a number of companies offering shorter excursions, giving the opportunity to take a boat trip and spot the wonderful assortment of sea life that occupies the strait. Spend a day out on the water and enjoy the sea breeze whilst keeping a lookout for dolphins, orcas and even whales!

To enjoy the famed golden sands, Valdevaqueros Beach is just a 10-minute drive from the villa. A long 5km stretch of sand, the beach is ideal for both walking and swimming. The unique wind conditions make this region a haven for windsurfers and kitesurfers, with nearly 60 surf centres dotted along the coastline. Although a challenging spot for beginners, the local surf school is on hand if you want to take a lesson and give it a try. For a bite to eat, check out the popular Bibio Beach House. The contemporary restaurant, opened by three-Michelin-starred chef Dani Garcia offers a relaxed atmosphere with colourful decor and tempo music. Serving a variety of fresh seafood, it's a nice spot to spend the evening, and the long boardwalk extending out to the beach invites you to take a pre-dinner stroll and enjoy the sunset.

Venture further along the coast to the beautiful beach and town of Bolonia, sitting within the limits of the Parque Natural del Estrecho. Less than 15 minutes drive from the villa, this stunning beach boasts a long stretch of fine white sand and crystal-clear water. Set to one end, the distinctive Dunes are a marvellous sight, with their ever-shifting shape morphed by the strong winds. The town has a handful of places to eat, such as Bar La Jáabega, an unfussy family-run restaurant, or the more refined Las Rejas, where you will find a fish-orientated menu making the most of the local daily catch. Just outside of Bolonia, you can also visit the notable Roman ruins of Baelo Claudia. Built at the end of the 2nd century BC the temples, aqueducts and town entrances are well preserved, and you can take a guided tour to discover their fascinating history.
