Nestled in the unspoilt village of Poulton, close to the Roman town of Cirencester, lies this stunning Grade ll listed property, Peach Cottage.
Family and friends who are seeking a relaxing break in the Cotswolds, should look no further, as Peach Cottage is an idyllic retreat for just that!
A gravel pathway leads up to the front door, which opens into a stylish entrance hall with a wooden console table and space for hanging coats, so kick off your boots, as you get ready to enter into your lovely home-from-home abode.
Head into the bright and welcoming kitchen/diner to unload any shopping you’ve picked up on the way for your self-catering stay, into the fridge/freezer, and look forward to rustling up an evening meal making use of the electric Range double oven and grill, nestled amongst the smart shaker-style units and a centre stage island.
The wooden dining table can comfortably seat six guests, so uncork a bottle of wine and dig into your meal whilst toasting to the start of your holiday.
A handy utility room sits just off the entrance hall containing a washing machine, basin and WC.
Spend your evenings in the elegant sitting room, surrounded by character features such as the original flagstone flooring and exposed oak beams, as you sink into the welcoming furniture and catch up with your loved ones, as the woodburning stove crackles away in the background.
For some peace and quiet away from the ground, make your way into the snug and put your feet up on the two-seater sofa to catch up on your favourite TV show.
A choice of three wonderful bedrooms await upstairs; the master is a striking room with a lovely ornamental fireplace, containing a king-size bed, and bedrooms two and three are accessed up two further steps, which contain a double bed and twin beds.
There will be no queues for the bathroom in the morning, as Peach Cottage benefits from a bathroom with a bath and a hand-held shower, as well as a shower room with a walk-in shower.
Enjoy your morning coffee outside in the enclosed garden which has a choice of seating areas so you can follow the sunshine around the garden, as well as a further patio area as well as a raised lawn area which enjoys dappled shade from the two apple trees and is bordered by fragrant lavender and roses providing summer colour. A small herb garden contains rosemary, mint and chives which guests are welcome to use to flavour their culinary creations.
Although small, Poulton has a well-regarded pub, The Falcon Inn, which is a traditional British country dining pub with a focus on locally brewed cask ales, an interesting wine list and classic English menu. You can embark on a leisurely stroll around the village and venture into the nearby park to admire the stunning scenery.
The village is a short drive away from the Roman town of Cirencester, the largest market town in the Cotswolds, where you will find an array of shops along the Market Place and can brush up on some history at Corinium Museum which shows impressive Roman artifacts that have been well-preserved.
Burford, the “gateway to the Cotswolds” is close by, which is a town with some fantastic shops, restaurants and tourist attractions including Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens, a landscaped parkland filled with nature and also Tolsey Museum, which has local history, culture, and industry collections.
Venture slightly further afield to the wonderful village of Bourton-on-the-Water, which straddles the River Windrush and is affectionately known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’, where you can view an extensive collection of vintage cars and motoring exhibits alongside historic toys and a gift shop, or enjoy some time amongst the wildlife and discover over 500 birds at Birdland Park and Gardens.
An unforgettable holiday is spent at Peach Cottage!
Poulton is a small rural historic village situated close to the Cotswolds’ Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, approximately 24 miles south east of Gloucester. Poulton was registered in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Poltone. Historically, the village was part of the county of Wiltshire and for centuries was—physically detached from Wiltshire – an enclave of Gloucestershire. In 1844, Poulton became part of Gloucestershire under the Counties (Detached Parts) Act. Poulton is now home to a community run village shop, a local pub, The Falcon Inn, a traditional British country dining pub serving locally brewed cask ales, an interesting wine list and classic English dishes and a village hall. The thriving market town of Fairford is just over three miles away nestling on the River Coln, and offers many amenities including individual shops, cafes and traditional pubs, as well as hosting a weekly country market offering home grown and homemade produce and country crafts. RAF Fairford is home of the Royal International Air Tattoo, held in July every year, one of the largest military air shows in the world with a reputation as one of the UK's top outdoor family events. Just a short drive away is the beautiful Roman town of Cirencester, gateway to the Cotswolds, which offers excellent shopping, restaurants, ancient buildings, museums and antique markets. The Cotswold Water Park is Britain’s largest water park, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, covering 40 square miles and made up of over 40 lakes. A wide range of activities is on offer including water skiing, cycling, horse riding, boating, golf and fishing and for the nature lovers the park offers an abundance of bird and animal life, all of which can be seen throughout the year on the three nature reserves. A little further afield visit the historic town of Malmesbury with its 12th century Benedictine abbey and Westonbirt Arboretum with an extensive collection of trees and shrubs. The honey-coloured Cotswold towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water and the university city of Oxford are also easily accessible. Poulton is an excellent location for touring this varied area.
