Guests consistently praise the Wharf Cottage for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location in Cromford, Derbyshire. The property is well-equipped and beautifully furnished, offering a blend of historical charm and modern conveniences. Its proximity to local attractions and nature walks, along with a well-maintained garden, adds to its appeal. The owners' attention to detail and generous welcome packs contribute to a delightful stay, although gifts should not be expected with every visit.
The majority of reviews highlight the property's spotless condition upon arrival. One isolated complaint about cleanliness was noted, but it appears to be an exception rather than the norm.
The location is highly praised for its convenience to local shops, historical sites, and scenic walks, with many guests appreciating the ability to explore without needing a car.
Guests find the cottage very comfortable, with several noting the spaciousness and cosiness of the rooms, as well as the quality of sleep they experienced.
Facilities are generally regarded as excellent, with the property being well-equipped and thoughtfully furnished. There were a few minor criticisms regarding the TV and hot water, but these do not seem to detract significantly from the overall experience.
The owners are commended for their thoughtfulness, particularly regarding the welcome packs. However, it should be politely noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed with every stay.
A beautifully restored cottage. The shuttered windows, old panelled doors, traditional fireplaces, lovely furniture and every modern facility say it all!
A quaint little cottage in the heart of the Derwent Valley, sitting besides Cromford Canal. Wharf is a lovely traditional cottage, part of the former Wharf Manager's House, beautifully decorated with original and new features and super comfortable furnishings. Sit back in front of the log effect gas stove with a good book, or cook up a delicious meal in the farmhouse style kitchen next to the old stone fireplace to enjoy around the dining table with your family. Wonderfully comfortable beds will ensure you get a restful night’s sleep ready for tomorrow's activities.
Just outside, wander down the canal into Cromford and feed the ducks or pop into the friendly local village pub for a pint. Have a tour and learn about the village’s history at Cromford Mill and Mason Mill - the heart of Sir Richard Arkwright’s Industrial Revolution. Explore the surrounding attractions, such as Matlock Bath and it’s Switzerland gorge, independent shops and riverside prom. Travel to the grand Chatsworth House, the market town of Bakewell or historic Haddon Hall. Alternatively, choose one of the many footpaths and have a walk in the Peaks to take in the breath-taking views, one of the more local ones being from Cromford Wharf to High Peak Junction. Head up to Black rocks with a picnic, or just have a stroll along The Derwent Valley Heritage Trails that runs through Cromford.

This is a gem of a cottage in a very unique position. It is extremely well appointed with high quality furnishings and fittings that add tastefully to the character of the building. There is incredible attention to detail and the owners seem to have thought of everything you might need for a comfortable stay. The shops and cafes on the wharf and in the mill were very friendly and offered an interesting range of goods. Great to see ducks and swans swimming on the canal from the lounge window!

Excellent cottage. Stayed end of Sept. 24, cold and wet, but very warm inside. Had everything that we might need and very comfortable. A good welcome pack. We will be looking this cottage up the next time we go up to the Matlock area and if its not booked we will be booking again.
