Spend your down time in the lounge, curling up by the woodburner and watching a film from the Smart TV, or escape to the snug with a good book and cup of tea. Off the snug lies a twin bedroom serviced by a bathroom with choice of roll-top bath and walk-in shower. Head upstairs and catch your rest in either the twin or king-size bedroom, with the latter benefitting from an en-suite shower. Head outside and enjoy a fresh morning from the garden space, complete with water feature and furniture set, plus there is secure storage for those looking to bring their bikes. Immersed by rolling hills, lush green fields and the meandering River Derwent, there’s plenty of opportunities for walking and keen anglers can cat their lines and try their luck in the abundant waters. Head to the village pub for a hearty meal and pint before stopping off at the convenience store for the essentials on the way home. The charming town of Matlock is a short drive away and boasts a wonderful mix of independent shops, restaurants and attractions; catch The Heights of Abraham, a cable car ride that takes you to breathtaking viewpoints, is a popular destination for panoramic vistas over the deep limestone gorge. Enjoy a family day out at Gulliver’s Kingdom, learn about local history at the Peak District Mining Museum and the Crich Stand Sherwood Foresters Regiment Memorial or enjoy a picnic and wander around the beautiful Hall Leys Park. Escape to Midway Cottage and explore this quintessentially beautiful part of Derbyshire.
The village of Whatstandwell sits beside the River Derwent, located close to its better known neighbours of Cromford, Matlock, Matlock Bath and the popular village of Crich. The area, located in the Peak District National Park, is full of history, with the National Tramway Museum a particular favourite amongst visitors to the area. Matlock, just a few miles away, offers a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as attractions such as Gulliver's Kingdom. Magnificent views of the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car that takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham - a great place for all the family with its show caves, nature trail, water gardens and owl maze. The nearby High Peak Cycle Trail provides a wonderful experience while further to the north the market town of Bakewell, Chatsworth House and Park, Haddon Hall and Carsington Water are not to be missed!

Plenty of room, both inside and out. Excellent walks from the door. (Hill up to the cottage is steep. Good cycle tracks nearby, especially the canal track to Cromford. Would recommend this cottage and will return.
