The hall was originally the family home of the renowned Victorian architect William Watkins, who designed and built the house himself in 1875. He resided here whilst he was Mayor of Lincoln and none of the charm and character of that period has been lost. In 2017, the house underwent a massive redevelopment, adding some modern-day luxuries and carefully restoring all the original features.

The property itself is located within sight of the Cathedral and walking distance from its Cathedral Quarter, known locally as ‘Uphill’. Steep Hill has been voted Britain’s Great Street, which connects ‘downhill’ and ‘uphill’ Lincoln. The street is as steep as the name suggests, yet it is still well worth the walk!

Lincoln combines its rich history with a wealth of arts and culture. The magnificent Lincoln Cathedral is a towering structure, which can be seen from much of the city and is often considered to be one of the UK’s most remarkable pieces of architecture. In fact, it has stood in for Westminster Cathedral in several TV shows and movies.

Afternoons are best spent ambling around the pretty, cobbled streets, taking in the Tudor town houses, ancient city gates and elegant architecture that stretches into every corner of the city. independent boutique shops have arisen amongst the old buildings, with live music venues, theatres and galleries to explore.
