Its history dates back to the Bronze Age, with the town growing during the industrial revolution and the arrival of the Grand Union Canal, allowing it to become a centre for footwear and leather manufacture. Nowadays, Northampton is home to a university, several parks and gardens, and some unique architecture, along with plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants and attractions.
