The famous Jennings Brewery, a Cockermouth institution, sits proudly by the river; offering regular tours - and tastings! - and a great shop, it's a must for any real ale fans. From quiet riverside ambles to longer walks out into the surrounding countryside, there's a great choice of walking available straight from the front door.

If you do fancy exploring slightly further afield, ever popular Keswick is an easy 15-minute drive away. Take a ride on the launch and enjoy a cruise around Derwentwater or set off on foot along the lake shore path. From Keswick avid fell walkers can tackle Latrigg, Catbells and Walla Crag to name but a few of Alfred Wainwright's favourites. Why not head west from Cockermouth to explore the picturesque Solway Coast? Stroll along the promenade at Silloth or visit Whitehaven harbour to learn about the area's maritime history.
