Wainwright mentions Whicham Mill in his description of three walks on Black Combe which can all be started directly from the door of Swallow Barn. The Barn offers a stylish and cosy, brand new conversion. The ground floor has a well-equipped kitchen boasting a slate floor with underfloor heating. A small step up leads to the sitting room, complete with a wood burning stove. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with a king-size bed, views of the garden and charming original features. The bright second bedroom has twin beds which can be zip-linked. The family bathroom includes a bath with both a shower wand and shower over, basin and WC. Outside there is a private stone walled patio to enjoy the afternoon sun and a beautiful lawned garden with the beck tumbling by, providing an enchanting place to enjoy the scenery.
The famous Cumbrian Heavy Horses Stable and Riding Centre is just along the valley offering unforgettable beach and fell rides. There are a range of walks and attractions to take advantage of, including breathtaking views of the Irish Sea from Black Combe, the stunning wooded trails or scenic boat trips of Lake Windermere, Scafell Pike, the homes of Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter or the historic and haunted Muncaster Castle. Perfectly located to take in the famous landmarks and historical attractions of the Lake District, this property provides all the home comforts you will need, as well as a place to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy the natural beauty of the region.
