This summary has been generated using feedback from guests who have stayed at this property

Fell Foot is a highly praised cottage, celebrated for its well-equipped amenities, stunning views, and beautiful gardens with a hot tub. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, spaciousness, and homely feel, making it ideal for families and dog owners. The local pub and scenic walks add to the tranquil experience, although some minor comfort issues with beds are noted.

Cleanliness

Reviews consistently mention the property being 'spotlessly clean', 'immaculately clean', and 'very clean', indicating high standards of cleanliness. The property appears to be well-maintained, with only one review not mentioning cleanliness, preventing a perfect score.

Location

The location is described as peaceful, tranquil, and perfect for walks, with proximity to a pub and cafe. The stunning views and easy access to local attractions are highly valued. The closure of a nearby alpaca farm and the mention of a minor issue with single beds slightly affect the score.

Comfort

Comfort is generally praised, with mentions of a 'homely and cosy' feel and 'lovely comfortable beds'. However, there are a few remarks about uncomfortable beds in some rooms, which slightly lowers the score.

Facilities

Facilities are well-regarded, with the hot tub, garden, and well-equipped kitchen often highlighted. The property is described as having everything needed, including games and a piano. Some minor suggestions for improvement, such as better lighting in the kitchen and additional soft furnishings, prevent a perfect score.

Thoughtfulness

Guests frequently mention the thoughtfulness of the welcome pack and the helpfulness of the housekeeper. While gifts are appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Santon Bridge, Wasdale. Fell Foot is a traditional Lakeland stone cottage dating from 1899, extended to a spacious, 4/5 bedroom family home in the heart of Wasdale in western Cumbria, boasting stunning views of the Wastwater Fells. The property sleeps up to 8-10 guests, perfect for a large family gathering in this beautiful corner of England. A spacious lounge features a gorgeous granite fireplace with wood-burning stove, elegant reading chairs, a luxurious three-seater sofa and an upright piano for the musically minded. The recently renovated country kitchen features an electric hob built into the worktop with a large double oven and grill, dishwasher and microwave. Past the breakfast table you move through into a beautiful dining room with extendable table, ideal for family meals or party games. The larger of two king-size double rooms features a lavish four-poster bed with newly fitted en-suite walk-in shower, sink and toilet and an adjoining study room which is the ideal spot to place a travel cot. Zip-and-link beds in the two other double rooms can be configured for four single beds - ideal for children – or two doubles, depending on your preference. A cosy, snug room comes with games and books plus comfortable double sofa-bed – an excellent place for children to tuck themselves away. A brand new family bathroom features a deep bath and drench shower with Victorian fittings and sink with vanity unit. A vintage-style heated towel rail adds extra comfort. Towards the rear of the property, you’ll find a handy utility and boot room with American style top-loader washing machine, tumble-dryer, fridge/freezer and sink. A Welsh dresser holds all the information you will need about the local area plus there’s space to hang coats, dry clothes and for your dogs to curl up for the night. Outside you’ll find a beautiful, enclosed garden with mature trees, lawned areas and a paddling stream – perfect for young children and dogs – plus a luxurious six-person covered hot tub with views of the fells, as well as a sunny patio and a large BBQ area for alfresco dining. At Fell Foot, you’re blessed with a lovely cosy pub just three minutes’ walk down the hill – The Bridge Inn – and the great Woodlands Café and Gift Shop is even closer for hearty Lakeland breakfasts, lunches and cream teas (they will also supply basics such as milk, bread, bacon etc to our guests). Walk up the hill to find Irton Pike, offering an amazing panorama of Wasdale, Eskdale and down to the sea at Ravenglass. Within 15 minutes’ drive of Fell Foot you can reach Wastwater and Wasdale Head – a popular base for climbing England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike. Or you could be on the coast at Seascale, having an ice-cream on the beach, letting the kids loose on the adventure playground or enjoying a round of superb links golf. Other activities nearby include kayaking, ghyll scrambling, canoeing and horse riding. You’ll also hear the distinctive toot of ‘The Ratty’, one of the oldest and longest narrow gauge railways in England. Meaning “little railway” in old Cumbrian dialect, ‘La’al Ratty’ has been running between Ravenglass on the coast to Dalegarth in upper Eskdale for more than 100 years and is perfect for kids and steam enthusiasts. Fell Foot is a beautiful cottage acting as an ideal base from which to explore the tranquil western Lake District, any time of the year.

Eskdale Green is a quaint village found in the heart of the Lake District, home to several farmhouses, country pubs, village shops, and a scenic skyline of the peaks of Scafell. There's also a popular valley as well as attractions including Muncaster Castle, the World Owl Centre and the Ravenglass to Eskdale miniature railway.
