A detached barn conversion, on a working beef farm, close to Bootle on the western side of the beautiful Lake District National Park. This is a charming cottage, which is an ideal base for families and friends wishing to explore this lovely part of the country. This delightful cottage is superbly presented with two bedrooms, a shower room and open plan living accommodation with beamed ceilings, underfloor heating and woodburning stove and a well-equipped kitchen with dining area. Outside, there is a private enclosed yard with a raised patio area, with views across to the beautiful Black Combe, which during late summer is festooned with heather. This is an ideal spot for you to relax with a refreshing drink or to dine alfresco. There is a footpath running from the cottage down to the coast, and the award-winning beach at Silecroft is just five miles away, where you can find a lovely inn, pony trekking and a 9-hole golf course. To travel further afield, you can embark on the West Coast railway line at Bootle Station and travel up the coast to Ravenglass, where you can hop on-board the Ravenglass & Eskdale narrow gauge railway, which will take you up the Eskdale Valley to the foot of Scafell. As well as the trekking centre in Silecroft, there is also a wonderful opportunity to visit the Cumbrian Heavy Horse Centre and participate on a ride over the fells on a Clydesdale, Shire or Ardennes horse. At the end of the day, return to this fabulous cottage and settle down in front of the cosy woodburning stove, or enjoy the beautiful clear sky for fabulous sunsets on Black Combe and starry moonlit nights. A perfect place to stay at any time of the year.

We got lost trying to find the farm and Anne patiently directed us over the phone. The cottage was exactly as described, really well equipped and spotless, and we had a lovely few days exploring this part of the Lake District. Wouldn't hesitate to come back or to recommend.

Everyone was exceptionally friendly and had so much patience for all our children's questions about their farm. They even got a ride on the quad bike! The dogs are adorable and so friendly, the kids are missing Jess already. Set in an outstandingly beautiful area of fells waterfalls, minutes away from Silecroft beach, we made many happy memories. Thanks Jim, Anne and Sandra for everything!

It was the perfect get away and I would definitely return.
