About this property

Crag Hill Cottage is a luxurious two-bedroom, holiday home set in the pretty Lakeland village of Skelwith Bridge and boasts a large, mature garden sweeping down to its own river frontage with fishing rights. The cottage is perfectly placed to explore the remote and spectacular high fells as well as the lovely, lower level routes. It ideal for a family or two couples.

Park in the gated drive, go to the back door and take a few steps up to the utility/boot room and store your outdoor gear. Discover your newly fitted and stylish kitchen neatly laid out in this bright and cheerful room, which has every convenience for your stay. Admire the lovely, family sized dining table as you head for your cosy sitting area to the front of the cottage. Relax on one of your comfy sofas by the stunning fireplace surrounding the traditional log burning stove. Find your exquisite conservatory just off the lounge and start to imagine memorable family evening in this beautiful and welcoming space. You will find a door from here onto the patio.

Walk through the hallway to find your immaculately presented bedrooms: a super king-zip link or twin bedroom and a further king size bed, double room. You will also find a well-appointed family bathroom has bath with power shower, close by. There is a separate drying room outside along with secure storage for bikes and canoes.

You will have a choice of many spectacular walks right from your doorstep. Hike up to the lovely Loughrigg Tarn, a favourite of William Wordsworth and if you are still full of energy, climb to the top of Loughrigg Fell to experience majestic Lakeland views. For a more relaxing day, have a drink at nearby Chesters by the River, a well-loved vegetarian café, brows its enticing gallery then take an easy walk through woodland and open meadows to the pretty village of Elterwater. At the end of your exciting day, unwind in your beautiful garden and watch the flowing river as you sip your favourite drink

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
