Falls View Cottage in Ambleside is praised for its stunning location, comfortable furnishings, and well-equipped facilities. Guests enjoy the picturesque views, the sound of the nearby waterfall, and the wildlife encounters. The property's proximity to town and the added convenience of a utility room are appreciated. Some guests suggest improvements and mention minor issues, but the overall sentiment is positive, with many looking forward to returning.
Most guests find the cottage clean and well-presented, though there are a few mentions of areas needing attention, such as crumbs under the dining table and dog hair on carpets. The overall impression is positive, but the noted exceptions slightly affect the score.
The location is highly praised for its beauty, proximity to Ambleside, and the natural surroundings, including the waterfall and wildlife. The convenience of local walks and the town's amenities contribute to a high score, despite the mention of a steep hill.
Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, with cosy furnishings and a warm atmosphere. The beds are noted as comfy, and the living spaces are spacious. Some concerns about the heat during a particularly hot week and the suitability for very young children are noted.
The cottage's facilities, including the utility room, parking, and kitchen equipment, are well-received. However, some guests mention maintenance issues like the boiler and oven problems, and suggestions for improvements such as better bedroom windows to reduce noise from the waterfall.

A feature is the mod-ern, open plan sitting and dining area with a divided fitted kitchen, all on the top floor with fabu-lous panoramic views. The Cottage is surrounded by glorious countryside with walking routes to suit everyone, from a vil-lage stroll or level river walk to a challenging hike up a mountain. Take a fifteen-minute walk from the centre of town to Waterhead, where you can take a cruise or hire a boat on beautiful Windermere, England's largest natural lake. At this level you will find your bedrooms, a spacious one with a king size bed and en-suite bathroom and a smaller twin bedroom. You will also find a family bath-room. Head to bright and spacious top floor and enjoy the views from the beautifully decorated and fur-nished open plan sitting room with dining area and kitchen From here walk through the French doors onto your own patio area and relax with your favourite drink looking down onto the river below. Take advantage of the shared access in the neighbouring field, relax in sitting area and take in the spectacular views to the fells. Dry your wet gear in the basement utility area. You even have a shower suitable for showering dogs! With so much on offer, its no surprise that Falls View Cottage provides a fantastic base for any self-catering holiday.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
