About this property

Fisherbeck Farm Cottage is a stunning property completely refurbished by the owner in early 2020 creating a luxurious retreat. It offers a traditional Lakeland house, with contemporary modern living in the heart of the Lake District. Located midway between Ambleside village centre and beautiful Lake Windermere at Waterhead, it is an easy short stroll to either and is well located for all the village amenities. This charming detached character cottage is tucked away from the hustle and bustle making it an enjoyable holiday location.

Set in its own garden, Fisherbeck Farm Cottage can trace its history back over two hundred and fifty years and retains several original features including exposed oak beams and traditional (updated, draft free) Lakeland Sash windows. Guests can relax and enjoy the numerous walks in the area, cruise on the lake from Waterhead, and with Ambleside's many restaurants, cafes and shops there is little need to use the car. Walks from the door include Wansfell, Troutbeck via Jenkins Crag, Todd Crag and Loughrigg Fell as well as the popular ramble to Rydal under Loughrigg or for the more adventurous, Fairfield Horseshoe.

Accommodation

From the moment you step inside into the spacious hallway, the owner's attention to detail is evident. The entire property is furnished to reflect the style and offers high quality throughout. The property offers a lounge with smart TV and Sky Q, seating for six and patio doors leading to the outside space. The spacious kitchen with dining area features built-in Neff appliances, another large smart TV also with Sky Q, dining table and an additional reclining sofa to relax on. The ground floor also hosts a cloak room and utility room with sink and washer dryer, and benefits from underfloor heater throughout. Beautiful oak doors and woodwork has been installed.

A wide staircase leads to the first floor where the three bedrooms are located. Choose from: a master bedroom with king-sized double, en-suite shower room and views to Loughrigg and Wansfell, a king-sized double with views of Loughrigg and the Langdale Valley or a twin room with views towards the Langdales. All bedrooms have smart TV’s with FreeSat. There is a modern Villeroy and Boch family bathroom with bath, shower over, wash basin and WC. Both first floor bathrooms benefit from underfloor heated tiles and heated towel rails.

Outside: Off-road parking for up to three cars. An extensive private patio area to three sides of the property which can be accessed from either the lounge, kitchen or from the front of the property via steps. Outside lighting and seating for up to 8 people provide for a perfect opportunity for outside dining. There is a lawned area to relax on and off-road parking for 3 cars.

Every attention to detail has been considered to ensure guests have a truly wonderful stay and no doubt this exceptional property will be the location for a memorable holiday.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
