About this property

Rose Cottage is a charming and deceptively spacious holiday home with three bedrooms, sleeping up to five people. It is a traditional, double-fronted terrace cottage, set in a short access only lane, just off the main road. The attractive and bustling town of Ambleside is one mile away. Leave the car for the day and set out on foot from your front door to discover some of the most dramatic and beautiful walking trails the National Park has to offer. You will have so many opportu-nities for a wonderful walk: everything from a village or lakeside stroll to an adventurous trip up to the majestic high fells and mountains. Take the path from the back of the cottage to Todd Cragg and Loughrigg Fell, where you will discover majestic views.

If you want to explore by car you have a fabulous choice of scenic routes around the main lakes, towns, villages and attractions within the Lake District. The cottage is positioned at the entrance to the Langdale Valley and it is just a fifteen-minute drive to Old Dungeon Ghyll. There is river fishing on the Brathay just across the road Walk into the entrance hall, hang up your outdoor clothing before going into your beautifully ap-pointed sitting room. Sit and admire the original stunning marble open fireplace, oak window shut-ters and other original Victorian features. Before leaving this room be sure to look out at the lovely view of Wansfell. Step across the entrance hall to discover your beautiful dining room and admire the large feature dining table and window seat. From here you will find the perfectly positioned, modern kitchen and the snug, a second smaller sitting room. Climb the stairs from the hallway and be thrilled at the exquisite central landing with its lovely curved bannister. Unwind in your comfortable and characterful bedrooms with pretty windows. One double with an en-suite shower room. A second double and a smaller room with a generously sized single. You will also find on this floor your spacious and modern bathroom which boasts un-derfloor heating.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
