Fair Rigg is a well-loved, spacious cottage in Sawrey, praised for its comfort, stunning views, and excellent location near Lake Windermere. Guests appreciate the property's cosy atmosphere, with an open fire and log burner, and the convenience of multiple bathrooms. The garden and proximity to local attractions add to its charm. While some guests encountered issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the overall experience remains positive, with many looking forward to returning.
Cleanliness at Fair Rigg has received mixed feedback. Several guests reported cobwebs and dust in various rooms, suggesting a need for more thorough cleaning. However, some guests found the overall cleanliness satisfactory.
The location of Fair Rigg is highly praised, with its peaceful setting just minutes from Lake Windermere and local amenities in Bowness-on-Windermere. Guests enjoy the easy access to walks and the proximity to the Cuckoo Brow Inn.
Guests find Fair Rigg to be a comfortable home from home, with plush seating, comfortable beds, and a warm atmosphere enhanced by the property's open fire and log burner. Some minor suggestions were made for additional safety features in bathrooms.
Facilities at Fair Rigg are generally well-regarded, especially the well-equipped kitchen and the garden. However, there were several mentions of issues with the AGA and hot water supply, indicating room for improvement in maintenance.
While some guests mentioned the lack of a welcome pack and festive decorations during the holiday season, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or extra touches to provide a score. It should be noted that such amenities are not guaranteed.

Really enjoyed our stay

Weâre slowly getting used to the different ovens in the Aga. Special thanks go to Orion Property Services who answered our call at after 10pm when we had no hot water, we had a work around based on immersion heater override that worked, and they came the next morning and fixed it. Hope to be back again soon!

The house has been finished to a high standard and nothing beats sitting in the lounge with a coffee looking out at Windermere. All the bedrooms are comfortable with their own little personality. We stayed for Christmas and it was a lovely spot for us as a retreat over the festive period. The issue we have had with both stays at this property is a distinct lack of hot water (not enough for everyone to shower in the morning) and sporadic heating. It seemed to swing from one extreme to another, either extremely hot or no heating at all. Luckily it was very mild so didnât cause much of an issue but still a bit frustrating to have the same issue 2 years on from our last stay. We would happily stay again, just with the hope we could ensure the hot water was better available throughout our stay. Definitely pop to Claife Viewing Station just a short stroll from the house and grab a coffee from Joeyâs Cafe! They do great pasties and sausage rolls!
