About this property

From the outside, Durham Bridge Barn looks like a classic Lakeland property, but inside you’ll find pure luxury. The property is a converted barn situated in the Lyth Valley, fully refurbished, contemporary and chic. Features include vaulted ceilings, old oak beams and a gas fired, log effect stove completes this cosy country cottage.

The sumptuous furnishings are like something pulled straight from the pages of a glossy magazine and in terms of space the cottage has plenty of room for two couples. Two king-size bedrooms are found on separate floors and both bedrooms have boutique style en-suite bathrooms.

Sitting beside a whitewash farmhouse in the Lyth Valley, which appears on Lonely Planet’s list of most beautiful places on earth, the approach to Durham Bridge Barn is via a private lane. The property is just 20 minutes away from Windermere, from Bowness and from Cartmel, the home of sticky toffee pudding and L’Enclume the Michelin award winning restaurant. Closer to the property is the Lyth Valley pub that serves excellent food and drinks.

No Friday changeover sorry.

Crosthwaite is a small village set in the picturesque Lyth Valley, famous for its damson trees, and boasts a lovely pub known nationally for its excellent food. The lakeside towns of Windermere and Bowness are nearby, with plenty of activities, interest and entertainment for all ages. Also within easy reach is the popular market town of Kendal, an historic Lakeland town with a fine reputation for shopping. Kendal nestles on the banks of the River Kent. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its superb Topiary Garden, are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay.

Immaculately presented and in a beautiful setting. It was well situated for visiting areas of the Lakes. Would definitely recommend. Many thanks for a lovely break.

The property has its own designated parking. A good base to visit the southern lakes and an excellent site to view the stars on a clear night. A welcome pack of local produce on arrival. Kendal supermarkets nearby for groceries and a useful list of local pubs to eat out provided by the owners. We would definitely recommend this property and would stay there again.
