The cottage's charm and personal touches are noted, although some guests mention areas needing maintenance or improvement.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage is generally found to be clean and tidy, with a few guests noting specific issues such as a grubby shower mat and dust under sofas. The presence of dog fur suggests pet-friendly accommodation, but also indicates a need for thorough cleaning between stays.

The location is highly commended for its convenience, being a short walk from Ambleside town centre and offering easy access to local attractions. The availability of parking is a significant plus.

Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with an open fire adding to the ambience. However, some guests experienced issues with heating control and bedding, slightly affecting the comfort score.

While the kitchen is well-equipped and the property offers nice gardens, several reviews mention maintenance issues such as plumbing, electrical concerns, and the need for updates. These factors have led to a moderate score in this category.

There are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts that would warrant a score in this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

About this property

This luxurious pretty double-fronted cottage is just a stroll away from the centre of Ambleside and is gently elevated with superb fell views. With many traditional features and enhanced with designer furnishings it tastefully blends character and contemporary. Parking right outside the cottage enter through the porch into the light, spacious lounge with oak floor and open fire, leather sofas and picture windows. Well-equipped kitchen/dining room overlooks the garden, with French doors leading to furnished patio. On the first floor, both bedrooms are beautifully furnished, with fine and far-reaching views. Spacious and elegant shower room also on first floor. Ambleside's friendly character, comfy cafes, fantastic restaurants and traditional pubs combine with a great location from which to explore the rest of the Lakes. From Waterhead Pier in Ambleside, the Windermere Lake Cruisers take you the full length of the lake, with stops at Bowness and Lakeside. The A591 connects Ambleside village with Grasmere and Keswick to the north, Windermere and Bowness to the south, and journeys west to the delights of Hawkshead and Coniston are just as easy. Walks abound in the area, and Ambleside is a great place to start with excellent outdoor equipment shops offering advice and inspiration.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

Fully equipped for our stay. Our only concern was that the bathroom shower seemed to leak and affect the ceiling in the downstairs dining room on one occasion. It looked as though this had happened previously. We were very careful not to run the shower very long thereafter. Other than that we would quite happily stay there again.

Parking was very easy and the facilities ensured great value for money.

A lock or bolt top and bottom would prevent them bring able to be pushed open. The little front garden though lovely has a very dangerous little step up, which is all falling to bits - accident spot. This time we found a very toxic smell when oven was on. It continued each and every time and therefore didn't seem to be from any cleaning agent that may have been previously used. The kitchen door we had previously mentioned, it would be far more practical opening flat against sitting room wall than awkwardly into kitchen . Overall however, the property is really cosy and very well kitted out and in great location. With attention given to these few changes..... we would highly recommend it to anyone .
