Millerbeck is a well-located cottage in Ambleside, appreciated for its peaceful setting and proximity to local attractions. Guests have enjoyed the fresh decor, comfortable furnishings, and the wildlife seen from the property. While some maintenance issues have been noted, the property's charm and location continue to attract repeat visits.
The property generally appears to be clean, but there are mentions of specific issues such as a sticky dining table and a smelly bathroom. However, these seem to be isolated incidents rather than a general problem with cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, easy parking, and short walking distance to the centre of Ambleside. It serves as a convenient base for exploring the Lake District.
Guests find the property comfortable and cosy, particularly noting the fresh feel from new carpets and paint. However, some guests mentioned the need for better mattresses and the inconvenience of painted-shut windows.
While the property is equipped for a pleasant stay, several reviews highlight maintenance issues such as non-working lights, sagging curtains, and a lack of outdoor seating. These issues suggest that the facilities could be improved.
There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to assess this category.

Take a torch it's pitch black through the park later on. Bedroom one (left) no TV but not a problem. Sash window needed some attention ,open from the top! Bed small but comfortable, clean white bedding. Great sockets with extension leads & a mirror next to drawers. The ensuite bathroom has a shower cubical this is small anyone who's large/tall would struggle .. not very powerful but sustained constant heat. Bedroom two - slighter larger with a TV, bigger bathroom with a jacuzzi bath & separate larger shower cubical & a very powerful shower. Comfortable bed, plenty of storage & sockets ..the layout of doors to this room is slightly odd , door from landing lockable, but no door to the bathroom & a door to the bedroom ! Both had heated towel rails but they were quite dusty so gave them a clean. The kitchen is well equipped . Plenty of wine glasses only one smaller tumbler . But lots of pint glasses . Eventually found the WiFi code on a scrap of paper on the notice board in the kitchen .. this needs changing I've never seen such a long one which was a nightmare to put in Netflix !, . & It really isn't fast WiFi it's quite poor & my phone often flicked to my own data .. TV struggled due to the WiFi using a firestick. Living room - large dining table but felt sticky gave it a scrub but just didn't clean too well, all the polish Has gone. Sofa a bit old chairs comfy but the large 2 seater has lost padding got quite uncomfortable. Didn't use the log burner as the central heating was adequate controlled by a thermostat by the front door.. New grey carpet throughout the property. Items that need replacing which maybe the cleaners should pick up on :- a new washing up bowl! It's so scratched never looks clean doesn't look nice & cheaply replaced. The notice board looks scruffy out of date leaflets etc.. The bin in the kitchen, it's broken! Hard to lift lid as you can't click it down & pop up anymore .had to put tape on to lift the lid. New sofa & dining table. New shower in bedroom one . WiFi needs to improve .. Cleaning needs attention . The property looked like it had been cleaned a while ago & no one had been for ages , massive cobwebs across the front door & piles of letters on the floor . Therefore explaining the dust. Parking was fabulous right outside the property & loads of room for a large car .

We were four people and the house is big enough for that. spacious kitchen with all amenities. Spacious bedrooms with private bathroom. And nice and clean. The house is located in a wonderfully quiet area just outside Ambleside. You can reach the village in a 5-minute walk through the park. I do have a number of recommendations for the house. We did miss a terrace with table and chairs. There's plenty of room for it. We now had double blankets on the beds. I would really appreciate blankets per person. these are my suggestions

The house was lovely and clean, the kitchen had everything we needed. A few comments: the lid on the flip top bin doesn't work and it was annoying having to remove it to rubbish in. The surface of the dining table was sticky all over and not nice to use. The table mats were rather old and worn out. The beds were comfortable, but the duvets were rather thick for summer use, perhaps that was just me! I wouldn't like to use them in hot weather. Finally, the button on the shower in the en-suite kept falling off, took a bit of getting used to but the shower works if you press it hard to put it on and off. That said, overall, we loved the house and location, and had a great week. June 2024
