Over Ghyll is the perfect property for your holiday in the Lake District. Close to the busy hub of Ambleside with its fantastic choice of cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars, and its collection of individ-ual and specialist shops. You will find plenty to do here when you aren’t busy exploring further afield. Visit Rothay Park for a pleasant river walk or take part in a game of bowls, play tennis or cra-zy golf at White Platts Recreation Grounds. Watch one of the wide range of films being shown at the independent cinema nearby. Park up in your private space, climb the stairs to your lovely first floor apartment, take in the fan-tastic view of Stock Ghyll Beck below. Then head out on foot to enjoy a walk to the spectacular waterfalls of Stock Ghyll Force. A trip in spring will reveal a carpet of daffodils on its banks. Explore further onto the nearby fells of Wansfell, Todd Cragg or Loughrigg. If you are a gardening enthusi-ast, why not walk to Stagshaw Gardens and from there amble up Jenkins Crag to admire the lovely lake views. Originally part of a bobbin mill, you will reach your apartment from a shared internal staircase. Your outdoor wear can be stored conveniently in your entrance hall, which leads you into a delightful sitting room with dining area. Catch the morning sun as you enjoy your breakfast, and then relax later with your choice from the entertainment systems available. A contemporary style kitchen awaits you, bringing inside the colours of the Lakeland landscape reflected in the use of local green slate worktops. At the end of the day, unwind in one of the two comfortable bedrooms with good storage space and cosy fitted carpets. Your bathroom is stylish and inviting after a day exploring the outdoors.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
