The Lookout in Ambleside is praised for its spectacular views, modern and clean bathrooms, and comfortable living spaces. Guests appreciate the property's private grounds and its proximity to local attractions. While some guests mention challenges with stairs and the lack of a lift for luggage, the property's charm and location seem to compensate for these inconveniences.
Most guests found the apartment to be spotless, with only one mention of marks on carpets and dining chairs. The overall impression is that the property is well-maintained.
The property's location is highly regarded for its stunning views and convenience for walking and exploring Ambleside. The steep hill access is noted, but does not detract significantly from the location's appeal.
The apartment is generally considered comfortable, with modern furnishings and a sociable layout. However, some guests experienced issues with noise from the boiler and the heat in the bedrooms, suggesting room for improvement.
Facilities are well-received, with modern bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. However, there are reports of maintenance issues with the dishwasher and the heating system, as well as suggestions for improvements such as a shower screen and better clothes drying options.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate the thoughtfulness of the host, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

From the parking area take the short walk from your car, enter the main building and climb the grand staircase to the second floor. After your day’s journey, kick off your shoes and enjoy your favourite drink on the comfortable sitting room suite or make a tasty snack or meal in the lovely kitchen, where you are certain to admire the quality cream units and granite work sur-faces.
At the end of your busy day, enjoy the tranquillity and comfort of your pretty bedrooms. One has a king-size bed with en-suite bathroom. The other has twin beds with an en-suite shower room. There is a cloakroom with wash basin and WC off the hallway.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

The location is beautiful, a quiet oasis it what has become a very busy Ambleside. The views are exceptional being up on the top floor and well worth the climb upstairs. Our stay was impacted by the scaffolding and ongoing building maintenance work but no doubt this will be completed in time for our next stay!

It is well equipped, nicely designed and comfortable. Every window offers a view. Lovely grounds, you can walk from the door up Loughrigg Fell. No real criticisms. The 40 steps mean that it's not suited to any anyone with significant mobility issues. The toaster tripped the switches every time we tried to use it!
