Riverside Hideaway is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its cleanliness, modern amenities, and picturesque location by the river. Guests appreciate the comfortable furnishings, the proximity to local attractions and dining, and the thoughtful touches like a welcome tray. Some minor issues were noted, such as noise from other guests and occasional maintenance oversights, but overall, guests report a delightful stay and often express a desire to return.
Guests consistently commend the property for its spotlessness and high standards of cleanliness. A few isolated comments mention a 'doggy' smell during one stay, but this appears to be an exception rather than the rule.
The property's location is highly praised for its beautiful riverside setting and easy access to local attractions and dining. Some guests mention traffic noise, but it does not significantly detract from the overall positive reception of the location.
The rental scores highly on comfort, with guests finding the beds extremely comfortable and the property cosy. There are some remarks about the size of the rooms and noise from other guests, which slightly affect the comfort score.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the property being described as well-equipped and luxurious. However, some guests noted the absence of items like a cheese grater and rubber bath mat, and occasional maintenance issues like a non-functioning dishwasher and outdoor light, leading to a slightly lower score.
While guests mention thoughtful touches such as a welcome tray with tea, coffee, and biscuits, there is not enough consistent information about gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such amenities are appreciated but not guaranteed for every stay.
A real treat of a retreat by the River Leven!
Full of character and cosiness, Riverside Hideaway is a romantic ground-floor portion of a traditional Lakeland Barn sleeping four people on the beautiful banks of the river flowing south from Lake Windermere. Enjoy the stunning countryside, river and lake access, explore the surrounding South Lakes, and look forward to special home comfort to return to each evening!
Entrance: Ground level private entrance to the living space.
Living-area: Newly refurbished, cosy yet bright lounge with character beams, deep-cushioned furnishings and a view over the water. Neat, well-equipped kitchen open to the dining area, which also has superb views.
Bedroom 1: A charming spacious master double bedroom.
Bedroom 2: A cosy second bedroom with 4ft bed.
Bathroom: Modern shower room.
Outside: Magical riverside gardens and furnished patio overlooking the water. Private parking for 2 cars right outside the apartment.
The cosy accommodation has all you need, wrapped in rustic character and set in a charmingly relaxing location. Contemporary style and country charm mingle here, and provide a great environment to get together and let those everyday cares fade away. And your shared riverside garden is the ideal spot for picnicking, fishing and canoeing!
One of the great advantages of Riverbank Hideaway is its proximity to one of the finest inns in the Lakes, the well-loved Swan Hotel at Newby Bridge. Although you are pleasingly secluded in the shared garden grounds of Riverside House, you are only the shortest of strolls from the log fires, ambient atmosphere and excellent gastro-pub food of the Swan. There is a superb beer garden here for you to sit and sip a cold ale and discuss your days adventures as the river slides past, and the hotel also offers luxurious spa facilities and a swimming pool.
The walking opportunities nearby are vast, and the lower rolling hills of the south give way to the high central Lakeland peaks the further north you journey. Gummer's How, one of the prettiest fells in the area is just a stone's throw away, and the views from here are truly awe-inspiring. Lake Windermere has plenty of paths by the lakeshore, and we recommend a stroll at Fellfoot Park, a beautifully Victorian lakeside leisure spot with boat hire available. Just a little drive away east of Windermere is the green and fertile Lyth Valley, famed for its lush beauty and yearly damson crop.
Lakeside and Newby Bridge have so many attractions, including an excellent aquarium, a historic railway, and a steamer stop for Lake Windermere. With the natural beauty of the area to explore too, you are ensured a full and fulfilling holiday.
The small village of Newby Bridge takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 over the River Leven. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge. Visit the Lakeside Hotels and enjoy magnificent views across Windermere and the surrounding fells, or enjoy the Aquarium of the Lakes, where the naturally themed habitats, bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, plus the picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and admire the views at nearby Gummer's How.

The only fault we found was in the smaller bedroom there was black mould just above the skirting board, which due to the location next to the river i would imagine would be difficult to keep at bay. The cottage facilities were very good and would recommend family to stay.

The beds are super comfy, the bathroom is spacious with a great shower and the living/kitchen/ dining area has everything you would need. The furnishings are good quality and comfortable and have been updated since the photos on the listing were taken along with new flooring. Very practical for muddy boots and paws. The location with direct access to the river is perfect and if you are a paddle boarder or canoeist serve as your own launch site. There is some good outside space (not enclosed) with appropriate furniture if you get the weather and even a bench on the riverside. Great base for the Western Lakes area and Grizedale Forrest with some good walks direct from the property. The owners obviously look after the property very well. Loved our stay and will return.

I was definitely recommend . The lady who owns the property next door was lovely and very helpful The view was beautiful sitting out overlooking the lake
