Favourite bits = upstairs lounge was beautiful spot to drink and overlook the lake as was one of the bedrooms, all the double rooms were bright, spacious and comfortable, dining room was enormous and easily sat everyone, pool and hot tub were warm and easy to use with beach towels provided, really well equipped kitchen that was a great social space and plenty of bathrooms for everyone, ample parking and location is great for walks/lake access and so many attractions close by. Minor opportunities for improvement = several trades people kept coming and going around the gardens/pool over a couple of the days which wasn't a major problem but would have preferred to have been aware of it in advance instead of being surprised by strangers turning up outside the window/in the pool room, the main gate broke at one point however this wasn't an issue for long as there was (another) contractor already at the house who managed to fix it open

House isn’t the easiest to find in the dark but place is spacious, clean and cosy. Couldn’t fault the size of rooms and comfort of beds. Private pool was amazing for lazy afternoons in the house and separate living space upstairs was good to get away from the in laws, can imagine in summer it’s even more relaxing! Having pub next door was ideal for when we didn’t want to cook, It was perfect location and the house was amazing for what we wanted. We would love to come back however couple issues that would put us off - biggest one and main reason we booked was because it states an ‘enclosed garden’. There’s no fence on one side and an open car port on other side and with no lighting on the grass area to keep an eye on them it resulted in our dog very nearly ending up on the very busy road and trying to clean up after them in the dark is impossible. Also a metal bucket for ashes from the log burner would prevent us near setting the place on fire. Fix these 2 things and we’d be back in a heartbeat!

There was a key for the front door but not the porch door. We called for assistance, no joy in any of the 4 key safe boxes or in another location where it took some time to get the correct combination to gain access. The quickest someone could get to us with a key was 90 Minutes! We were told an engineer had locked the porch door and that a previous guest had got the keys safes muddled. Not having anyone check that there are the correct keys if there is work is going on seems basic knowing you have guests arriving. When we were only there for 2 nights, this was not the best start to our stay! The WIFI was not working, we called the owner again on the Saturday and were told it should be back up in an hour, but to no avail! A couple of the rooms the bedside lamps didn't work. Shower above the bath upstairs did not work.
