Alternatively, travel into the neighbouring village of Greenodd, where you will find a larger selection of amenities, including village bakery, a Post Office and convenience shop combined with a number of pubs and The Handmade Ice Cream Company. The market town of Ulverston is slightly further afield and has even more amenities, as well as an opportunity to walk along the world's shortest, widest and deepest canal before taking to The Cumbria Way for some breath-taking scenery. Other local attractions that groups of all ages will enjoy include the South Lakes Safari Zoo, the National Trust owned Sandscale Haws National Nature Reserve and the countryside hall of Holker Hall & Gardens. The Lake District National Park is also waiting to be explored, where you can meet the unusual creatures at Lakes Aquarium, take to the waters of Lake Windermere and explore The World of Beatrix Potter attraction. As well as a number of walking and cycling paths, you and your loved ones will not be short of things to do whilst on holiday in Cumbria.

The small village of Penny Bridge rests on the borders of the Lake District National Park and is within striking distance of the River Leven. The village plays host to a pub and makes a great base for touring further afield to the area renowned for its outdoor pursuits.
