Nestled just on the outskirts of Bowness (yet set in rolling fields and fells), Greenstyles is a picture-perfect traditional Lakeland cottage full of charm, with great views of the fells and glimpses of Lake Windermere.
As you step into the cottage through the solid wooden front door, there’s a spacious hallway, with sitting room to the right and the light and bright kitchen/dining room to the left. The well-equipped kitchen with top quality appliances has everything you need to cook up that hearty breakfast or celebration meal. Walk through the arch into the dining room where you can all gather and relax, socialise and celebrate. Light streams in through a wall of fell-view windows, where a glazed stable style door takes you to the outside space, ideal for mid-summer meals alfresco. Across the hall is the sitting room with feature rustic beams and a wood burning stove. Relax in the comfy sofas or window seats watching TV or reading. Glazed double doors lead from here through into the garden room, with access to the large, mature garden. A choice of sofas awaits you, perfect for afternoon tea or indeed just relaxing and reading the paper. Windows on three sides provide views of the surrounding fields and fells. On the ground floor is a good-sized utility room with washing machine and drier, iron and ironing board, and heated towel rail to enable you to dry any wet coats. Upstairs are 3 pretty cottage bedrooms: super king size, King size (can be made into twins if needed) and single, all with views. These rooms are complemented by a large, smart family bathroom with fabulous uninterrupted views of the lake and the fells, a double walk-in shower, vanity unit with twin basins and WC. To the rear of the cottage is the fabulous, large garden with an extensive lawned area, mature trees and bushes; great for exploring and enjoying the views. An area with garden furniture is a great place to have breakfast in the morning on a sunny day or indeed in the evening. A must for those clear days not to mention a glass or two in the evening gazing at the stars.

The interior is pleasantly decorated, the side conservatory overlooking the garden is lovely and the beds were very comfortable. The garden has plenty of furniture in various locations and overlooks Windermere and we had a clear view of a Lancaster flying up the lake on one day as well as several jets over the week. As other have said, the cleaner was still there at 16:30 when we first arrived, not a major issue as the cottage was presented in clean and tidy state. Unfortunately I inadvertently left a fleece at the property but the owners made every effort to return it to me and wouldn't accept any payment for post and packaging, much appreciated.

Cottage had everything we needed and was in an ideal location for us to explore the lakes. We had a great short stay Will definitly book again!

The cottage was comfortable and had pretty much everything required although only 2 refuse bags and dishwasher tablets for the week! As other have said, the cleaner was still there at 16:30 when we first arrived, although the cottage was presented in clean and tidy state. What was, and still is disappointing, is that an item of clothing left at the cottage has not been returned, I appreciate it's my fault for leaving it there but... There are no contact details for the owner, although Sykes say to contact them. Contacting Sykes Holiday Cottages was a test in itself as they list no telephone number or email address on there website, only say to message through your account. To date the response from Sykes, despite chasing several times, is to say "We have called the local office and they are checking with the housekeeper again as it's not a property that we manage. Once we have their response we will let you know". I'm still waiting more than a week later!
