Jasmine Cottage in Windermere is a well-regarded holiday rental, praised for its great location, cleanliness, and cosy atmosphere. Guests have enjoyed the comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and thoughtful touches like the log burner and outdoor furniture. While some minor maintenance issues and comfort concerns with the sofa and heating were mentioned, the overall experience has been positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
The property generally receives high marks for cleanliness, with several guests noting it was immaculate and tidy. However, there were isolated incidents of finding previous guests' belongings and cigarette odour, which suggests room for improvement in checking and preparing the property between stays.
The location is highly praised for being convenient and close to local attractions, shops, and walking routes. The proximity to a petrol station and the lack of traffic noise despite being near a road are seen as positives, contributing to the property's appeal.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, particularly highlighting the log burner. However, some guests mentioned issues with the sofa comfort, squeaky beds, and pre-set heating schedules, indicating that while the property is generally comfortable, there are areas that could be enhanced.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and good internet connection. However, there are comments about maintenance needs such as the tumble dryer not working, uneven driveway, and heating issues. These suggest that while facilities are adequate, attention to maintenance could improve the score.

Resting within the oldest part of Troutbeck Bridge in a small enclave of character properties is this 18th century cottage, Jasmine Cottage. Appealing to couples or a small family, this property rests in an ideal location between Ambleside and Windermere, perfect for holidaymakers seeking a quiet location well away from passing traffic but with all the main Lake District sights easily at hand. Enter the cottage from the back door into the open-plan kitchen where you can make use of the integrated appliances and whip up a hearty breakfast or sumptuous feast. Head into the sitting area for an evening on the sofa, complemented with a glass of wine while you discuss the plans for the rest of the week. As the evening draws to a close, upstairs awaits a double bedroom and a single bedroom with deep set windows that offer idyllic views of the surrounding greenery. Step outside and spend a moment at the garden table and chairs before taking a stroll down to the shores of Lake Windermere where you can admire views of the water, or venture slightly further afield to the town of Windermere for a selection of eateries, as well as shops for picking up any essentials. A trip to the Lake District wouldn’t be complete without a cruise on board the historic steamers which stop off at several towns and villages around the lake. Catch one of these boats to Lakeside to visit the Lakes Aquarium and marvel at the fascinating underwater creatures, or head to Bowness-on-Windermere to see The World of Beatrix Potter Experience, a great choice for those with little ones, and discover the historic Ambleside Roman Fort in Ambleside for history lovers. For those keen walkers, look forward to climbing the Claife Heights, the Langdale Pikes, Helvellyn, The Old Man of Coniston, or travel further afield to climb the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike. Why not plan a day out to Keswick, home to some fascinating attractions such as the Derwent Pencil Museum and Puzzling Place – an optical illusions & artwork exhibition. At the end of a busy fun-filled day, look forward to returning to the comfort of Jasmine Cottage in the Lake District.
The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip.
